Secretary Hillary Clinton was hospitalized today after a doctors doing a follow-up exam discovered a blood clot had formed, stemming from the concussion she sustained several weeks ago.

She is being treated with anti-coagulants and is at NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital so that they can monitor the medication over the next 48 hours, Deputy Assistant Secretary Philippe Reines said.

Her doctors will continue to assess her condition, including other issues associated with her concussion. They will determine if any further action is required, Reines said.

Clinton originally fell ill from a stomach virus following a whirlwind trip to Europe at the beginning of the month, which caused such severe dehydration that she fainted and fell at home, suffering a concussion. No ambulance was called and she was not hospitalized, according to a state department official.

The stomach virus had caused Clinton to cancel a planned trip to North Africa and the United Arab Emirates, and also her scheduled testimony before Congress at hearings on the attack on the U.S. consulate in Benghazi, Libya.

According to a U.S. official, the secretary had two teams of doctors, including specialists, examine her after the fall. They also ran tests to rule out more serious ailments beyond the virus and the concussion. During the course of the week after her concussion, Clinton was on an IV drip and being monitored by a nurse, while also recovering from the pain caused by the fall.

      A comment by nanac that I cut and pasted from the post about Bush 41 being in intensive care with only the name changed. Glad to see that Hillary is getting some sympathy here. Good thing she is a lib/Dem otherwise many of these guys here would be pulling out her IV.

      I don't like HIllary as a public figure with authority and frankly, she is way toooo leftist for me but I hope she recovers fully and can dnjoy her family and job again. A clot has a lot of negative potential, I will say a prayer for her, Bill and Chelsea that none of that bad stuff visits her.

      I sure hope you are right about the sew and reaping thing. If that's true, she should be dancing out of the hospital any minute! God bless her and all she has done for this country. BTW, people really need to get over the bush thing... After all, we're all paying an enormous price for those years.

      Bingo! You got that right. Considering the enormous amount of good seeds sewn by Hillary, she'll be fine. I don't mean to imply that she's a saint, however, I feel that she has a hell of a lot more well wishers/prayers than Bush 41..

      US Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been admitted to hospital in New York after the discovery of a blood clot.

      A spokesman says its linked to a concussion she suffered earlier this month after she fainted and had a fall at home.

      Officials say her condition is improving and have and have played down suggestions that it is anything more serious.

      Clinton has been out of the spotlight since mid-December and was forced to cancel a foreign trip.

      She was also due to testify in Congress over the deadly attack on the US embassy in Benghazi, Libya. Two of her aides appeared in her place.

      The 65-year-old is the most travelled secretary of state in history, having visited 112 countries.

      She's due to step down in January and is widely tipped to run for the White House in 2016.

    • Fox News kept implying she was faking having a concussion to avoid questions about Benghazi. I think Fox News needs to issue a formal apology to the Clintons. Better yet, I think Fox News needs to shut it's doors.

      Forget them letting go of this, let alone an apology. One of the Foxters on the radio this morning said "some say she is doing it to avoid testifying." If she was shot by a gun nut, Fox would claim that she jumped in front of the bullet.
