Current TV Loses Progresshiv --- One of it's best community contributors to constant troll harrasment

Most of the time when I drop by current I'm pressed for time but each time I saw a post by Progresshiv I would vote it up without reading because I knew that the next time I logged in again I would read it and it would be filled with Progresshiv goodness.Well today he said good bye on one of the back threads---I'm not friends with, tho certainly a fan, with the guy but I hate to see him gone unnoticed.
Progresshiv as far as I'm concerned you're one of the best here unlike a political junkie like me or one trick ponies you brought a vast array of topics that made this site a true progressive oasis.

Mother Jones had a story about FreedomWorks and who is actually behind that so-called "grassroots" organization...corporations like the Koch Brothers and Richard Stephenson. Matt Kibbe and Dick Armey had that big falling out over the source of their funds. The wealthy buying politicians and setting agendas via their high-paid lobbyists. writing bills for congress VERBATIM. Here's the article: http://www.redstate.com/jasonpye/2013/01/04/mother-jones-freedomworks-isnt-a-gra...
Since I can't find the link to what he was responding to, I'll just say thanks for the Mother-Jones link. It was very interesting and scarey, since I live in a Red state. At least I think I live in a Red state. It's hard to really know since the GOP has made such a strong, and in many cases successful, effort to deprive dems of their voting rights.
The B.S. propaganda machine is hard at work. Stay with us MotherJones.

I wonder why so many ex-Current members have felt the need to go off and start their own sites? Maybe to have conversations without being harassed by trolls? One site, Currentexile, was mercilessly attacked by the very same trolls that come here to spread their hatred and enflame others to the point of frustration beyond what anyone should have to deal with. Atilla did likewise....jackhole...Ziggy...and there are others, but I do not want to divulge their site names for the simple fact that the trolls, if they found out, would be there in a New York Second to squat and squirt their BS - if they could!

I left Current a few years ago for over a year. I did not make a big deal about leaving or returning. I was not trolled out, ran off or tired. I just realized I was spending too much time both at home and at work arguing with people about BS that at the end of the day did not amount to a hill of beans.
Then one day I was at my desk working on a Cost-benefit analysis and realized why I like Current. Current is a lot like Masturbating neither is particularly productive but BOTH are a hell of a lot of fun, so I returned WITHOUT fanfare.
My only advice to Progresivehiv “whom I disagree with regularly, but like a lot” or anyone else is if Mishima or Molliblum are able to effect you so badly you have to leave a chat forum then maybe you are not sufficiently thick skinned enough to be on the Internet at all.

That's a very valid question Buck. Maybe it's because they have more control over their own websites and are able to kick out trouble makers that Current seems to have a "reverse policy" on. That is, they kick out the non-troublemakers and leave the trolls to continue to stir up resentment and anger. Yet, if you notice, they all return here from time to time to check out what's going on and contribute in their same masterful ways.

Sounds advice. But I do have a question, and it is not about any judgment: Why do people get so upset over strangers in cyberspace, strangers that they can just ignore? I can understand if there is gossiping or bullying among people one knows, like we see with high school students, but we are all adults, and I think most are considerably advanced enough in age to have a variety of life experiences, jobs, friends, family.
I don't get it.

Some sites do offer that control to the "owner"...others do not. It all depends on which site you choose to use for your personal page.
But here?
I think it's more like if they kick off a Neocon they must balance it with a Liberal. Like how back before the Civil War states admitted to the Union had to have an opposing state to keep the power from leaning to one side or the other.
One must admit, Liberals do outnumber the rightwing fanatics here by a little. Yet they make up for that by posting so many comments...like what some do on these threads. Count how many posts Mishy has...he can take over a thread and sit on it for DAYS.
But does Drudge or Bill O'Liely or Shame Hannity worry about that?
Naaaaaaa.....only Dems, Progs and Libs think about fairness...even though Fixed Noise has that in their description of who they are....it's just a ruse on their part to confuse the ignorant.

It's sad what pure hatred for those who hold a differing opinion than them can do to a site. They didn't give up until it was destroyed. Rendered inoperable...just like what they wish to do to this site.
Make a thing so putrid...so obnoxious...that no one would want to approach within a mile of the place.
A troll shared with me a description of what he looked like and lived:
"Bigger round than tall, toothless, meth-addicted with ten kids and none shared the same mother. Lived in the projects with a twin sister whose STDs were dripping fluids in the food as she cooked since he couldn't lift himself off the stinking couch he lived on 24/7/365 to prepare his own meals. He couldn't read or write and needed his crack-addled brother-in-law to type the comments posted for him."

Who is this Progresshiv? I don't know him, but his video implies he's a close-minded biggot. I don't know who Mishima is either, but from what I've read his arguments are well said and rationalized. I conclude the problem was Progresshiv, not Mishima.
I personally find there to be an unbalanced amount of liberal posters here on Current. Over time, I will try to recruit some of my more conservative friends to occasionally post here. This will provide much-needed opposing viewpoints to the Current community and help thin-out all the liberal commenters.
Thank you.

And about lies and truths...if I'm called a liar by someone of the caliber of a Mishima, I wear it as if it were a badge of honor. For a lie to him is as a truth and a truth as a lie.
If I tell the truth about lying, then lie....is that a truth? Do two truths make one a lie? Do two lies make a truth? If you lie about lying, isn't that the truth? "That's true, he lied", said the liar.

LOLOLOL!
All who know me know that I'm an Earthling...a Human Being...first and foremost. I do not follow any "religion". If I had my way, all Mankind would view it differently. We should become the best we can be to one another. And then if there is more than one God, we get to choose which one WE wish to worship! But we need to make ourselves presentable enough to be fought over by those supposed Gods. More precious than diamonds or gold. Make THEM jealous of US! Cause THEM to want us to GLADY worship the "Winner"!
REAL brotherly (and sister) love! That's paramount!
However, it begins with how we treat those who transgress against us as a population. I am against prisons and physical punishment. We should inculcate into each child the desire to NOT want to be banished from our "tribe". We are social beings. We need to nurture the positives within each and every one of us so as to want to be part of society! That ought to make the difference between treating others like less than human but as a close family member. As we truly are! DNA-wise!
That's my dream. And if, as I think...there are no "gods"...would it hurt for us to treat each other with kindness and compassion? None that I can decipher!
Cave ab homine unius libri. Beware the man of one book - no matter which it is!

Does that mean you're the one who is opposed to RT.TV? I'm sorry to hear that because I find it much more informative than our news here. For example, the filmed a live debate of issues that teens in Great Britain feel are important for them, and it was held inside the House of Lords. That was something we would not see here but we should have that kind of forum for mid-to-late teens. Also, it surprised me that Great Britain is experiencing the exact same financial and poverty problems that we are, due primarily to the extreme costs paid out for war efforts. There are many things I heard there first that I didn't hear about here until 2 weeks later.

No I was just saying that the same people who are making a fuss about this sale seem to be the ones who are all wrapped up in the LIES that Faux Noise tells them (the Faux Noise "faithful"), they seem to have a major disconnect there.

The major disconnect is the news propaganda we receive here. If you had been watching Oliver Stone's series on The History of the United States, you'd find that we had been lied to and cheated for decades by the press. The needless and pointless wars we got involved in, and even now, the spin our press puts on facts about what's happening in the middle east, in eastern and western Europe, China, and everywhere else on the globe. We get reports here. On RT we get videoed interviews so it's more like "from the horse's mouth." I prefer that.

No, it is false history.
I have actually exchanged a few emails with Peter Kuznick, the pretend "scholar" with whom he collaborated to make that grotesque lie. Go ahead and send an email to find out: I wrote as "Mishima" because that is my email name.
People across America should boycott Showtime and CBS for broadcasting that lie. Kuzinck's courses should be dropped by students, and he should be run out of the university where he teaches his hate.
American labor itself fought against the USSR! Jay Lovestone was a communist and went to Moscow to meet Stalin, but found out what the Soviets were really up to, and turned rabidly anti-Communist. He and George Meany fought to help get Eastern Europeans out of bondage. George Meany was instrumental in getting the Marshall Plan into action, and it was to stop the advance of the filthy Russian Commies that Oliver Stone extols.
Do you know that movie is based on a book written by a commie SOB traitor? The book is here for you to check!
Why is it that Left-wingers WANT to believe the worst about their own country? Don't give me the crapola about "truth." Freakin' Left-wingers LOOK for anything and everything to demean the land that gave them prosperity and freedom!

Let me give you a quote by the #1 labor leader, George Meany, at the time that Comrades Stone and Kuznick said America was evil:
Right after WWII, urging the adoption of the Marshall Plan TO STOP COMMUNIST SOBs. Unless we do..
"we will find ourselves on the Atlantic shore - Joseph Stalin's brutal, fascist dictatorship."In a speech, George Meany referred to the
"....stinking America haters who love Moscow. I am prepared to sign a non-Communist affidavit."You need to read some REAL history. THIS is an issue that really bothers me because there are many Americans who will believe this tripe that should be mocked and thrown in the garbage.
If I am here in Japan when Kuznick comes on his yearly propaganda trip to Hiroshima and Nagasaki, I will meet him. I will face him and tell his students what he is. I will do that. I have already asked him a pointed question, asking as though I were interested for "scholarly" reasons, and the idiot couldn't freakin' answer! He did not know the very thing that he pretends to know in his propaganda.
--------------------------
YOU CAN CHOOSE TO TAKE THIS AS A PERSONAL ATTACK, BUT IT IS NOT. In fact, I am honestly saddened to hear that anyone watches that and believes it. It is sad for the country that I love. It is not a personal attack on you. It is on those ..... who would produce such lies and hate. - 4 months ago

Wasn't it Warren Merrill? Or David_H? I can't recall, either....but I has an excuse...dementia is setting in! I'm getting older by the day....or is it month....no...year! But it sure feels like seconds to me.

Is it Edward R. Morrow you're trying to think of? And David H.? Could that be Chet Huntley and David Brinkley? You happen to have caught me at a lucid moment. I'm suffering the same memory problems. But yes, that was when the true story was more important than the cost of getting it. No matter where they had to fly to, they'd get it from the folks on the ground. It's just not that way here anymore.

And if you had been paying attention to Oliver Stone's History of the United States, you would find that he had not relied entirely on press accounts, because the press was lied to. Don't look at this one comment of the hundreds you post as encouragement by me to engage you in dialogue. I'm really not interested in any more of your spin strategies. Eddy? Naaa...I can quote him in my sleep! And thank your lucky stars you never got to meet David_H (with underscore), or congoboy or many of the beauties that used to call this place their second home!
I was hinting that you seem to be very familiar with this place and was wondering if you have been here in another lifetime...reincarnation, don't you know! Your sentence structuring and word usage sounds so...so...like I've read your posts many times before. But, like I said, my memory banks aren't what they used to be.
Perhaps we've met on another site and I may be recognising your choice of word usage here. Like a voice blast from the past!

"...Oliver Stone's History of the United States..."
I was enthralled with that series! I still have it on Time Warner's "On Demand" and might watch it again this coming weekend! Although there's not much I didn't already know...there were some surprising instances about certain events that highlighted or clarified my understanding of historical facts. And the very same corporations that have tried to control this country are still with us to this day...and doing swimmingly well financially.
However, I think they have taken what they have learned from history far better than us citizens. And the next time they try a coup to overthrow our government, I fear they may succeed!
Here's an old video of what they attempted to do back in 1933 (a three part series)...we should have tried and hung them for treason then! But we may get another chance at it if they continue on with the way they're acting! And there should be some rope saved for their lobbyists, too!

The only other places I have ever posted before, and I was a moderator at both sites, was AmericanEagle.com and Pete'sPond, both on Ustream. I didn't even know about Current until shortly before the election when Dish gave it to me for free for one month and I watched it. It blew my mind, but now it's crumbling. Can only hope Al Jaz saves it.
Oh, NOW I know what David H. you're talking about. I thought you were talking about reporters. David H. is the one who has been banned from Current. Well, guess what! He's not banned from GetSatisfaction despite my efforts to find out why. He's relogated to stalking that place now. Check it out. Go file a complaint against one of the trolls here and you'll probably find him there to disagree and call you a crybaby. Is that what you're talking about?

Our circumstances between 1933 and today is that while in 33 the big corps. had influence on the government, they were not as great a presence IN government as they are today. Sure there were communist-fascist senators and house reps. Also, in 1933 neither the democratic president, the congress nor the people were about to stand for sitting by while these people tried to destroy their democracy.
Today, we're seeing a lot more people who should be standing tough and fighting, instead bailing because they can't cope with this extreme tea party movement. And the public is so wrapped up in Kim Kardashian's butt size, they haven't a clue what's going on. The "Red" states, mostly in the south, are buying into everything the tea party is selling until they see them in action. Then they vote them out, but this is a slow process. Also, the Red states seem to be convinced there is going to be a revolution and they need to be armed military style. Can the NRA be responsible for this train of thought? I don't know, I'm not one of their supporters, but I'm seriously afraid of if it comes down to a revolution, whose side are all these Red states going to be on? Are they going to kill the people they voted into office for lying to them, or are they going to want to kill the opposing party, the liberals? Things to ponder while I go rest. Thanks for the video.

It's a small, small world, ain't it?
My happy trails have led me along the way to Yahoo, Alternet, Blogger, POV, Wordpress, Discus and HuffPo...counting the bigger ones. Then FOKNewsChannel, which led me to Current!
Back in the old days, we had a Bloggers Code of Conduct that we strived to adhere to!
1. Take responsibility not just for your own words, but for the comments you allow on your blog.
2. Label your tolerance level for abusive comments.
3. Consider eliminating anonymous comments.
4. Don't feed the trolls.
5. Take the conversation offline, and talk directly, or find an intermediary who can do so.
6. If you know someone who is behaving badly, tell them so.
7. Don't say anything online that you wouldn't say in person. Those went to hell in a double-handled handbasket, didn't they?

Yes, those sites that I moderated all had a code of conduct for comments. When you're moderating a group that's focused on a pond, waiting for a lion or an elephant to show up, conversations drift. We could give warnings to those whose drifted to an unacceptable zone. But we had to take snapshots of exactly what was said each time, as well as what we said back to them. If it was kept up, I just cut their cord. If they came back to complain to the management about this, or me, I had to have the proof, but they were out. It may be one month, 3, 6 or permanent. Depends on how much they wanted to maintain the privilege of contributing to the site.

Whaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa????????
This is where I get off that history train of yours you're riding into a station somewhere!
They OWNED the government...lock, stock and barrel. AND the politicians, too! They were even far more open about it then, also!
Things are so tame now compared to the days of old...national guards were sent out to shoot striking employees and physically force them back to work! Police busted heads of workers seeking fair wages and safe working conditions! What those who came before us suffered no one would think of going through that today! But slowly and surely, our worker rights are being eroded away.
And these things happened for the benefit of corporations, friend!

Here's some ideas to answer your query:
How would YOU crush a Tea Party insurrection?
1) Hold a massive garage sale on the day of their planned attack
2) Replace their Lipton's with Sleepy Time
3) Change the penalty for treason to mandatory retirement in Taxachusetts
4) Stamp "Property of China" on their war fund dollars
5) Lure them into a stadium with free tickets to "Jesus and His Technicolor Dinosaur"
6) De-fund their war effort by refusing to buy any more hillbilly porn
7) Replace US soldiers' bullet-proof vests with baby bumps
8) Decode their secret plans by running them through spellcheck
9) End the war by getting Obama to negotiate in whiteface
10) Nuke 'em after negotiations break down between rival leaders Joe Biden and Terry Schiavo
11) Just send in Wanda Sykes with a catapult full of watermelonsSource:
