The House has re-elected embattled Republican John Boehner speaker. The Ohio lawmaker won a second, two-year term as leader with 220 votes, losing just a handful of votes in the Republican-controlled chamber. (Jan. 3)-

Doesn't really matter. The Republicans control the House, so a Republican was going to be elected Speaker. It's not like they have any GOOD candidates for the position...

Didn't watch the whole "act" on TV - but did hear that Allen West (ex-loon of FL) was nominated - saw a shot of that conspirator Eric Cantor, actually ovating the Speaker on his victory (hypocrites live forever). Also a few shots of his sappy, teary acceptance speech, sniveling and blowing his nose. (2 more yrs of gridlock - but not as bad as if Cantor or West were speaker.)

Did he tell the stories again of working in his dad's tavern. Something about turning tricks in the men's room, I don't remember exactly but I believe a glory hole was involved.

Oh gawd, that tired old "working in dad's bar" story (waaah)... he may have mentioned
"his turn in the barrel" re the barroom-bathroom stories, damn... I'm sorry now that I turned it off, may have missed his "good ol' days" ramblings.
Do you s'pose that's why he cries - he pining for those old fun times.... - 4 months ago

He just made it. Looks like they were trying to get rid of him.
"Before the vote came to an end, another eight Republicans, seven Boehner foes and Boehner himself, had abstained from voting. With a more concerted effort, anti-Boehner Republicans could have brought Boehner’s victory margin to a single vote.
But after the clerk had read through the end of the roster, three abstainers — Reps. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN), Michele Bachmann (R-MN), and Scott Garrett (R-NJ) — came forward to vote for Boehner, and pad his victory."
