In fact, NO ONE got elected to the baseball Hall of Fame this year. Only the second time that has ever happened in the last 50 years. No Biggio, no Bagwell, no Jack Morris, no Mike Piazza.
Bonds, Clemens and Sosa didn't even get close.
I thought for sure Biggio would get in. 3,000 hits, 400 steals, 290 HRs, 5th ALL TIME in doubles (668) and 15th ALL TIME in runs scored (1,844)
It's like the voters are mad at everyone.
The problem is by not voting guys in ... and keeping them on the HOF ballot, it's creating a backlog for guys that do warrant serious consideration for the HOF ... like Fred McGriff, Tim Raines, Lee Smith, Alan Trammel, etc. It's creating a mess that's just going to get worse.

75 to 80% of baseball was dirty during that time. The owners knew as did the coaches and the media. Barry Bonds was the best player in baseball before steroids. Baseball was considered to be 'America's Pastime' when Sammie Sosa and Mark McGuire went after the immortal single season home run record that belong to Herman Ruth. McGuire was a lifetime .240% hitter. He and Sammy Sosa both struck out more that a fat pimple face kid at a high school dance did. They both lied to congress when ask if they had ever used steroids. Neither of the two were indicted by a grand jury. Barry Bonds was as arrogant as he was great. He already had the best on base percentage and batting average of all active players in the majors. He always lead the majors in walks and he won the Golden Glove award damn near every year that he had been in the major leagues. His down fall was when he became jealous of Sosa and McGuire's home run feats because he knew how they had accomplished it. Everyone in baseball knew it. Bud Selig turned his back because the long ball put butts in the seats. Bonds knew that he was a much better on base and home run hitter in baseball before they started juicing. The problem was that the 'CLEAR' (TESTOSTERONE) made him so much better than everyone else that the baseball purest so got angry and hateful towards him they actually wanted to see him banned from the sport and go to prison. All of this because he destroyed all of the Babe's records.
The government ended wasting years and millions of taxpayer dollars on trying to send him to prison and smear his name forever. They turned a blind eye towards McGuire. He's actually coaching in the majors right now. How many alcoholic racist are in Canton right now ? Almost every player in the majors back in the 50's, 60's and 70's took greenies (speed) just so they could play double headers.
In truth the all time home run record belongs to Josh Gibson, a man that Ruth called the greatest hitter that he'd ever seen but never got a chance to play in the majors because America and baseball were segregated during that time. Having said that, I believe that an asterisk should be place on every record that was set during those segregated years because most of the best talent was kept off of the field. Jackie Robinson wasn't the best player in the Negro Leagues. Walter O'Malley thought that he was the best fit because he had gone to college and he was a military captain.
That being said, you can hate Barry Bonds all that you want but it doesn't change the truth. Bonds hardly ever struck out in his career. He was the first player in the game to steal 40 bases and hit over 40 home runs in the same season.Willie Mays calls him the greatest to ever play the game and I obviously agree.

exactly....what did he do not to get in on this ballot. Yet Bud Selig, the person in charge the whole time, still has a job and is going to the HOF while keeping Pete out. I am done with baseball after this crap..... How can they penalize my whole generation of players when the people in charge knew it was going on and got rich because of it, but now they are running away from the people who made them all that money in the 90's.

3,060 hits (21st all time)
1,844 runs (15th all time)
668 doubles (5th alltime )
20 or more home runs 8 times
15 or more home runs 12 times
20 or more steals 9 times
30 or more steals 5 times
40 or more doubles 7 times
30 or more doubles 14 times
hit over .300 four times
hit over .290 seven times
95 or more runs 12 times
60 or more RBIs 11 times (mostly as a leadoff hitter)
seven-time all star
four gold gloves
four silver sluggers
one of only 34 guys with 1,000 extra base hits
33rd all time in total basesI give him credit for being better than mediocre.
The only real knock on him is he didn't have an especially great career batting average, but neither did Cal Ripken Jr. But, Biggio made up for it by averaging about 60 walks a year and leading the league in getting hit five times. His career on base percentage is higher than Ichiro's. - 4 months ago

They banned Shoeless Joe Jackson for life during his career. Without any evidence as far as I have heard.

Awesome news. Society has an obligation to confront the negative consequences of big business in sports. Steroid use is a huge problem and if an incredibly wealthy athlete decides to trade his honor and health for even more money he should be absolutely be snubbed by the Hall of Fame.

I think I would have put Jack Morris, Lee Smith and Tim Raines on my ballot, if I had a vote.

Bonds and Clemens didn't even GET CLOSE. You have to be one 75 percent of the ballots.
Bonds was on 36 percent of the ballots and Clemens 37 percent.
The only players who got close were Biggio (68 percent) and Jack Morris (67 percent)

I don't understand how Biggio didn't get in???? It is obvious he didn't use....but maybe they will have a PED free class next year....Maddux, Glavine, and Biggio....now that would be a classy HOF class.
