Did Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o participate in hoax that his girlfriend died of leukemia?

OMG, this has to be one of the scummiest things I have ever heard.

This story was splashed all over the media about Notre Dame linebacker Manti Te'o losing his girlfriend to leukemia and it helped spur him to a standout senior season. It turns out it was all a lie. There was no girlfriend. Manti claims he was a "victim of a hoax" but he talked about how his girlfriend was the most beautiful person he had ever seen ... except he never met her. This "girlfriend" he spoke of was someone he had corresponded with online, nothing more.

"Victim" my bum. This guy apparently was hoping this hoax would help him win the Heisman.

    • Apparently, this was someone he "met" online, and he told people it was his girlfriend.

Except she was never real. Someone playing a joke and Te'o, and Te'o milked it for everything it was worth.
