If the gun advocates behind this year’s inaugural Gun Appreciation Day had hoped to use the day’s festivities to build support for their anti-regulation platform, they are going to have to wait another year.Emergency personnel had to be called to the scene of the Dixie Gun and Knife Show in Raleigh, North Carolina after a gun accidentally discharged and shot two people at the show’s safety check-in booth just after 1 pm. Both victims were transported to an area hospital, and the Raleigh Fire Department announced that the show would be closed for the rest of the day.
…….
CNN is reporting that three people were injured at the gun show in Raleigh, not two as originally reported. All were victims of a shotgun that fired while the owner was removing it from a case.
.......
Two similar incidents occurred at entirely separate gun shows in the Midwest, one in the Cleveland suburb of Medina, Ohio and the other at the state fairgrounds in Indianapolis, Indiana. In Ohio, the local ABC affiliate reports that one individual was brought to a hospital by EMS, and in Indiana Channel 8 WISH says that an individual shot himself in the hand while trying to reload his gun in the show parking lot. That brings the tally to [five] victims of gun violence so far at three different gun shows during the country’s first Gun Appreciation Day.

They use the words "victims of gun violence" but there were no victims and there was no violence. There were accidents.

Yeah I voted you up to 0. It is newspeak in action. Notice how no news outlet is talking about the citizen who stopped that mass shooting in Oregon the same week as Sandy Hook. If they do they say "He killed 2 and intended to kill more until he was stopped." Stopped by who?

Two people shot accidentally at the "safety" check-in booth? That's kind of ironic.

Did it ever occur to you that the restrictions which you seek to implement have simply backfired? I regularly attend gun shows, the latest gun show since Sandy Hook had soo many people who knew very little about guns purchasing weapons before they are banned. You now have a ton of people who normally would have taken their time to learn about firearms prior to purchase, who are rushing out and panic buying just to get their hands on weapons. You say your against the weapons manufacturers but they never had it so good. Barry O is the best gun salesmen there ever was, he even diversified into the Mexican market with Fast and the Furious.

That's the weird thing.... they aren't. Typically you have to check your weapons in where they verify that the weapons aren't loaded. The timing of the this seems a little questionable. Can't say I've ever heard of this happening at a gun show.

More people get hurt on Black Friday.
Considering that there are hundreds if not thousands of gun shows every weekend in this country, a couple of minor injuries is not news worthy.
It's funny that there are a ton of people reminiscing about the 60s in the comments. Did you know that in the 60s and 70s, MLK, Malcolm X, and the Black Panthers were arming themselves to protect themselves, their families, and their communities from corrupt, racist, cops who supported gun control laws to discriminate against the black community. - 4 months ago
