We went on a day trip to this place called Pululahua, which is not only a botanical reserve, it is also at the bottom of a huge crater of an extinct volcano. The drive down the road was very dangerous because there is barely enough room for one car at times, let alone two opposing each other. We ate lunch at a really cool ranch called "El Rinconcito" and it is owned by a famous marathon runner who has won many awards. His name is Rolando Vera. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rolando_Vera_(athlete) His place is amazing. Look for my youtube video about the trip.http://www.extra.ec/media/ediciones//20101230/deportes/30122010_122136.jpg

Thank you Jon, it's a shame the video was so poor, and the wind noise so loud, but you tried.

~~Breathtaking ~~~
The Pululahua Geobotanical Reserve was first created as a National Park on the 28th of January on 1966 via decree law No. 194. This was the first National Park created in Ecuador and in South America to protect this unique place.
On 17th of February of 1978, this National Park was declared a Geobotanical Reserve via decree law No. 2559. This declaration was due to its geological uniqueness, and great diversity with more than 2000 species of flora, great diversity of birds, mammals, and insects of exotic appearance.

Oh, and here is a flipped car! are you kidding? treacherous terrain for sure. Every time I travel out of NYC I'm struck by the amount of greenery. I think I would overload there. Keep the vids coming.

Wow, how lush. Let's hope mankind is smart enough to do something to protect the environment before we lose this wonderful place and others like it. Thanks for the update. It looks like you are having a wonderful adventure.
