Sarah Palin Is Out at Fox

Image
FreeSpiritMuse
Sarah Palin will no longer be a paid contributor to Fox News.

The former Alaska governor and the network have parted ways, a source close to Palin told ABC News. The same source said it was her decision to leave the network and that Fox offered her an opportunity to renew her contract.

In a statement from Fox News, Executive Vice President for Programming Bill Shine did not comment on whose decision it was to end the relationship, instead saying, "We have thoroughly enjoyed our association with Gov. Palin. We wish her the best in her future endeavors."

"Today's reality TV culture has bred a new type of politician, the political media star. Real world Manchurian Candidates, these "stars" are political Snookis. True, Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann are not stumbling drunk on a Jersey Beach, but instead do their own version of Snooki by stumbling over the podium with their policy analysis. It makes me wish these women would answer every question with, "I want world peace"... and continue on with their race for the Miss America crown. I'm convinced Ms. Bachmann and Ms. Palin have chosen political careers simply to be "famous." That would explain their political party puppetry, right?

It's embarrassing that Ms. Palin and Ms. Bachmann are my peers, and that my generation has birthed the concept that life's most important quest is to be famous without ever doing anything to earn it. As a member of Gen X, I grew up with strong political female leaders such as Hillary Clinton, Sandra Day O'Connor, Geraldine Ferraro... women who, along with others like Gloria Steinem, fought their way through a man's world in the '70s and '80s to pave a path for future generations of women. And look what we have delivered in response: two intellectually inferior women who potentially could set the female sex and all who seek equal rights in America back to the burning stakes of Salem.

Ms. Bachman and Ms. Palin are the new feminist heroes, influencing a generation of young women to abort their personal rights fought for by generations of women in the 20th century. How did we get here?

I'm beginning to think Kim Kardashian might make a good GOP candidate.

      You betcha!"

It does not good. I got them good & they end up ignoring me.

It's not that hard to get them good.

It's like there view of cut government spending, it's not for the rich.
It's all connected, so cutting food stamps, cuts Walmart sales, cuts Walmart stocks.

Brings down the labor force, having 1000 background checks.
Pushing the "Ok you can work here just don't tell anyone about your felony."

It's ok that felons can work just that there are so many pushed out in
the work force, being the spending cuts on the poor, makes many
more felons. "Say you got to make a living somehow!"
And they won't say nothing, just hire many in one place!

The Tea party can't see down the road, they are looking back to
      the 1950's!

It's not that hard, you cut spending on the poor, you take away
      your customers.
There are more poor than rich. 50 million poor.
You don't see the rich buying 50 million TV's etc.

You get them on that & they ignore you & go on!
You can't convert them! No fact works.

    • She is an insignificant media whore, we're lucky she is not a blogger because she would be on this site spewing her Right -wing nonsense. A deranged woman who thinks she yields any power, only other lunatics listen to her.

For those who may need the definition:

      media whore
      [edit]English

      [edit]Noun
      media whore (plural media whores)
(derogatory) A person who attempts to transfer or transfers from one entertainment industry to another based only on prior popularity and not necessarily legitimate talent.
A person who craves media attention; someone who will apparently do anything to remain in the media spotlight.

Yes. I asked the question before and got no answer: Who were the vice-president choices for Kerry and Gore when they ran for office? Palin's partner, McCain, lost. Any other VP candidate would be relegated to obscurity very fast. But they still rage over her.

Hey let me jump in here on that statement! You asked that question, and you did get an answer, because I answered you. Correctly.

And BTW, while Palin may be relatively well known for a failed VP Candidate, she's not known FOR being a failed VP Candidate. I'd bet that most of the people who "know her" think she was from "The Real Housewives of Somewhere" or was perhaps a runner up on "Celebrity Apprentice".

If all former VP candidates made a 4 year Reality TV Show out of their lives following their defeat, they'd all be better known ...

Note to Jay Leno: Asking people just who Sarah Palin is / was might make a great "Jay Walking" segment.

galvenizing the base and giving hope is why she was a false prophet.

it is why she isnt a legit force, but a snake oil salesmen.

hope, and drawing crowds arent the strength of a politician.look at the name, the title.the ability to create policy, and politic, are what makes the politian.

the whole thing is sad, as watching you guys in the right trying to polish so many turds is like watching the arab world right now having to confront the truth we have been telling them for years.

they at least arent as stubborn and self destructive as you guys are, in that they are getting the reality that the core values that supposedly they all shared werent shared, and their leaders were fooling them.you are like an iraqi trying to find a way to validate saddam hussien letting people starve while he built another palace.you are the iranian trying to find a reason not to sell out to us or israel.you are the lybian trying to explain how lybia was better when they were lied to.

the rest of us saw through the bullshit right off the bat.we made no quams about pointing it out, and we had alot of damn fun at your expense.and rightfully so.that is how in a polite society free speech allows us to steer ourselves straight.olberman calling her an idiot, when he doesnt do that to anyone else.katie couric mocking her for not being able to answer the most basic questions all public office holders are asked, that are known as soft balls.tina fey literally just reading palins exact words with no editing and having that be funny on its own.

we gave you every opportunity to learn, and you didnt.

now your party has collapsed.fractured to a point almost beyond repair, and has such little credibility, that the next outing after you had one embarssing person on a ticket, had an entire field of jokes.as that is what you get when you validate the joke, as opposed to laugh it off as you are supposed to.

so we had bachman doing her crazy, godfathers pizza trying to supersize the white house with an economic plan perfect for a pizza deal, and a bush knock off who publically was stoned on who knows what to such a degree he could barely stand, no less speak about any of the shit as president would be the basics.

you ended up with the twitchy ken doll who wasnt gunna win, cuz he was already trahsed by your own party years earlier with no repairs to it.

so she is a joke, and when you support her so are you.
only you still refuse to see it.which doesnt change what it is.

Envy plays a large part in Left-wingerism.

And this has actually been studied and reported by psychologists. The egalitarian impulse (the leveling impulse) is in virtually all cultures. The radicals - Leftists - actually believe that by redistributing wealth (the extreme form being their COMMUNISM) they can relieve society of this envy.

This is why I maintain and keep emphasizing a truth about Liberals today: They do not understand or accept human nature.

Two main reasons I write what I do. (I do not acknowledge your continued distortions; in fact, they are really tiresome and boring. In this case, it is the last 4 words in that question: Inane, vapid distortion yet again.)

      1. The mention of certain people brings out the true character of LEFT-WINGERS, and she is one. Others are Milton Friedman, the venerable Ronald Reagan, etc.

      2. Palin actually does inspire and galvinize many. Why would CPAC have her speak at the convention otherwise? This is the best book that deals with the topic, and it is not political. It was written in German in 1966 and translated. (You can read it in the original, right?) It is a classic, but a sleeper. The author does touch on Communism a bit, but I do not think you would understand. It is one of those books that can result in a person actually looking at the world, ideas and society from new perspectives.

I am wasting my time posting it, but maybe someone will see it

A surprise to see that name mentioned here.

I admit I only know "of" him (through his reputation at the university of Mainz) but haven't actually read any of his works. Time to change that, I think.

I wonder whether some of his ideas about "envy" and the impossibility of "equality" were perhaps shaped by his own personal experience of the Nazi idea of "gleichschaltung" -- levelling -- as a youth. (Did you know, for instance, that he was the only one in his school who refused to join the HJ?)

He may be thought of primarily as a "conservative" because of his attacks on leftwing policies in Germany, and because he wrote for a right-leaning newspaper there. but he seems to have been against totalitarianism of any stripe.

His willingness to challenge accepted mainstream ideas was certainly anything but conservative.

      One for the booklist. Thanks.

Sedwin -- Schoeck was not a "right-winger" in the "Fox news" sense.

He was against totalitarianism of both the right and the left.

His refusal to join the Hitler Youth in a time when there was huge pressure to do so should tell you all you need to know about that. He also worked with the Allied Forces after WW2 to help shape the media landscape in Germany's nascent democracy.

Just because the title was suggested by a commenter you disagree with doesn't necessarily make it "right-wing tripe". It might even be interesting.

You have really shown the kind of person you are to dismiss this book in the manner that you did, without knowing anything about it. This is the main reason that it is so difficult to respond to you. The 1/3 - 2/3 problem, the refusal to answer a simple question about how you supposedly know what the Japanese think, the distortions of a clear and succinct statement about obscenity and the First Amendment. Heck, you are obtuse enough to proclaim that the that because Bush or somebody used a curse word, that proves some kind of point. And you wrote that you have a minor in Constitutional law or something? I cannot keep up with the multitude of your achievements and accomplishments.

I do not know about the author, only that he has a scholarly reputation.

There really is not much about politics in the book. The author presents chapters of history and psychology of envy. He spend a lot of time citing anthropological studies of primitive peoples from all over the world on every continent to establish that envy is part of the human psyche - It exists in every culture, everywhere.

What is fascinating about the idea is how humans usually fear being envied and go to lengths to avoid or deflect it. Haven't you ever noticed that if you present or state something about yourself, you will often follow it up with something dismissive? Like "I was lucky," or "but Johnny, my friend, did it in half the time," etc.? This is instinctively to avoid envy.

The difference between envy and jealousy is interesting. With jealousy, the person DESIRES the object, and is aware of this. With envy, the person wants to DESTROY the owner of the object. For example, the guy down the road has a pool and a Mercedes. The jealous person will admit, "I really would like to have those things," and either admits he cannot or tries to figure out a way. The envious guy wishes harm, thinking, perhaps, that the owner will lose his job, or that his wife will leave him. He is sickly joyful if one of his kids gets in trouble or the car breaks down.

In more simple cultures, it actually become very dangerous.

The way it becomes political is the ideologies that claim that they can rid society of this malignant and malevolent emotion. The communists, for example, speak to greed (envy). They think that property is the origin, so if there is no property ownership, the emotion of greed will be amelioriated. But it will not, because it will just go someplace else - the level on the Party Presidium, influence, power, one's spouse, whatever.

      {I typically read 3-6 books at a time}

As the venerable Ronald Reagan once said, "There you go again!"

      {I have read plenty of criticisms of egalitarian and anti-capitalistic views especially when they approach them from the viewpoint of "envy."}

One can CLAIM that, but it is an entirely different thing to SHOW it via discussion, explanation, discourse.

      {as you can watch or read any News Corp publication on any particular day and find this exact viewpoint expressed in plain terms.}

Illogical. The CPUSA approves of Obama's presidency and many of his policies. Does that mean that he is therefore a Communist? People on FOX news say that our Constitution is important. Does that mean that what they say should be dismissed? Or that they are the only ones who think this is so?

      {What don't you understand about please disengage?}

      Two points:

      1. This is an open forum. If you want to have personal discussions with someone and not have other opinions, I suggest that you use Current's email system.

      2. I understand the intent. You refuse to answer the question about how you know what you claim about what the Japanese think of Palin; you refuse to have a discussion - despite claiming to have a minor in the subject - about the Constitution (First Amendment) and obscenities. Therefore, I should not keep asking you.

I just want to have this in writing for the public record on this thread.
