    • I have always watched the news from something like the BBC, or this
other news that was on once, from somewhere. That is how I found out
what was going on in the states because the other places seemed to
      be hush about the news

I got a lot of missing parts to the news from overseas.
But even there I knew the CIA is in all news places.
You know this with something like CNN running in a war zone, etc.
They only tell you what they want you to hear!

Best said by Bill Hicks talking about CNN.

Al Jazeera does stand up better on the news side.
It would be better than CNN etc to a point.
There are some sneaks in the background with Al Jazeera.
Their home base is a strong hold of the muslim brotherhood.
And also there is info about the CIA in there at one time.
So anyway you see it. News, is getting where it just sucks!

All TV is fake!!!!! I hate to let you know, buy you might of known anyway!

    • Is there a human, young or old,
Who has never felt frustration’s hold?
Ah yes, my child, you’ve felt it too,
For so had I, as young as you.
For as we walk and learn and strive,
Anger is part of being alive.
And someone will tell you the way they told me
That anger is sin, but don’t you believe.
Have you seen a robin chasing a crow?
Were you not angry, for did you not know,
That the crow stole her egg right out of her nest?
You shared her anger and that was the best
That you could do for that poor mother bird.
The world’s full of injustice, I know you have heard.
Ah, now remember the day we had planned
A trip to the beach to play in the sand,
But you woke in the morning to the sound of the rain
Out on the roof-top and on each window pane.
How angry you were to think that it could
Rain on the beach as well as the woods.
Now, as you grow older, soon you will find
That you can feel anger of an other kind.
You’ll be angry at those who find fault with you
When you think that you’ve done the best you can do.
You’ll be angry at me when I’m angry at you,
Or when I make you do what you don’t want to do,
When I have to teach you and don’t know what to do
To help you to see it’s important to you.
So I’m angry at you and I’m angry at me,
For all I can do is stand there helplessly.
Or maybe I’ll yell, I might even scream,
For that moment my hope is as lost as it seems.
Then, you may acquiesce because that is your love
Till someday you’ll know what I’m speaking of.
And because you know that anger’s not sin
We’ll be able to make up again and again.
So never fear the feelings we have
Or deny that you feel what all of us have.
Make friends with anger and, like you and I,
You’ll be able to reason and understand why.
Say, “Anger, my friend, come rushing in.
Tell me your tale that we may begin
To discuss and subdue it into a sigh.”
For anger is fleeting when recognized.

Just come and go as you please and close the door behind you.

    • Oh, for fuck's sake. Just accept the changes that are going to happen.

Al Jazeera is just going to dump this forum format and run something that competes with CNN or BBC or Reuters. The only hope is that somebody acquires a license or purchases this type of forum software to run an entirely different site.

Maybe Al Gore et al still retains the rights, and will launch an entirely new place. That's my hope.

Could things have been better run and moderated here? Yes.

Could people like me have been move "civil" and better "community" members? Yes.

Could people have had a little thicker skin? Yes.

Either way, just roll with it. After all, you can't step into the same river twice.

    • it is actually the natural end result.what kills current is the fools like you.

seeking approval by the many rather than having any consideration for anything valid, so that when your time is up, and people are over you, they move on.

and that is what this site has been suffering from since the beginning.

progressive and jan are just two more in a long long long line of people who are the actual core of this, trying to make something out of it.

while fools like you play the "look at me, look at me game" which has no validity, turning this place into the left wing version of what fox does for the right.

selling what ever talking points you can with no regard for substance, until that well has been run dry.

it doesnt matter who buys it, or what people come to it from other purges, it is the validation of bullshit that gives this cite no basis to exist.

. as an veteran observer/paticipant of sports, celebrity, org, popular culture, and political blogs since the mid 90's I can tell you that a blog is much like an old corner bar. like minded people are drawn to come on in for support, sharing ; the feeling that they are not alone in their thoughts and perceptions. There they find comfort, solidarity and sought attention, quickly factions and cliques develop as control of the this mini energetic entity becomes an issue. At the same time people look in the windows and see that something is going on in there and they either want in to wreck the party 'causin' it done be fun, taking the attention for themselves or most often redirect /hijack attention towards their beliefs making it their hangout. Wagons circle, leaders emerge, e-mails to moderators and blog masters explode looking for intervention to save their hang out. Paranoia, suspicion censorship reign etc. all looking for control. Discussion is directed/limited and calculated, no longer free flowing. Should your comment be ambiguous you just may be attacked by everyone, better to be very definite, killing any creativity. Goups /gangs snipe seeking to shut the other down and then it's all over for some, lost its meaning.,,,now just why did i drop by here to begin with?. for an F-ing headache? .. may as just well go home and talk to the fam ,,, until I get the urge to reach out and join up again

Trolls are welcome to attack and bother me...

      Who cares!

Wow soo many people need a lot attention....

      My motto:

Life is the result of our choices...

I choose to be here until the bitter end and I am glad soo many friends think alike

Very true. Too many "Progressives" claim it is society, some kind of "ism" (racism, sexism, capitalism, etc.), or the "other" (evil rich, Republicans, etc.).

Our present situation - friends, money, family, health - is a result of the choices we have made. It is amazing how many people refuse to accept the irrefutable fact.

Please do not make up stuff. I do not try to get on anyone's side. I leave those who are members of the "Liberal Borg" to do that. They want reassurance, votes, praise and encouragement. I take most posts in isolation, unless the person simply rambles on in every post with the same Socialist-Statist, mindless nonsense.

I took your words for what they meant. If they mean something else, let me know. If you think that the situation in which people find themselves is due to racism, evil capitalists, oppression, and society in general, let me know. It could lead to an interesting discussion.

It's thanks to the Al Jazeera reporters around the globe that has kept us informed of BOTH sides of a story, and actually the stories it presented were far more honest than the politically biased reporting we've gotten from US reporters, even "white house correspondents." AJ helped us syphon through the line of crap we've been handed for so many years. So I'm sticking it out. Regardless what creeps may come here and spew a bunch of faux noise, some of it so outrageously inaccurate that you'd have to be from another planet to believe any of it, the rule of thumb has always been to just ignore it. That does not mean that a difference of opinion can't exist, but to undermine what for me has been one of my greatest learning experiences, is to cut off my avenue of mind-expanding.

    • I don't know what people are complaining about. Current is absolutely nothing like it was when it first started in 2005 both on TV and online and hasn't been for a long long long time. This community you speak of was once part of Current itself but when Current became less user-content friendly many of those members left and newer ones joined who like forum communities. For a while there was a connection between the site and the TV channel but even that was severed a long time ago. Try to understand - the regulars mean nothing to Current TV anymore and haven't for a long time except as a secondary audience for their ad content on shows they post here.

The internet site is so far removed from the actual company and TV site that I wonder if Al Jazeera even knows about it or cares that much about it for that matter.

"I don't know what people are complaining about. Current is absolutely nothing like it was when it first started in 2005..."

Uhhhh...that IS their point. So many of the ones that have been here since the "grand opening" feel this is THEIR site and no one should rock the boat. Reminds me of one of those exclusive clubs you can only join through a sponsor who has taken the time and effort to screen "new members" prior to acceptance.

I wonder...could they be members of an organization that prohibits an "open door" policy like the Masons? Is that where they get the idea of filtering who can come here to share their own personal thoughts on a whole range of subjects that need discussing to make this nation a better place for all?

I wonder if those who profess to be progressive in their ideals aren't? After all, if one is a progressive at heart, wouldn't they be the first to accept change as a natural order of things?

Nothing remains static. Evolution cannot be stopped unless there's tremendous effort applied to devolution. And that seems to be the case with closed minded folks. They miss the "good old days" from the past. Just like it appears the GOP would love to drag us back into the stone age...or to at least prior to 1861.

But, when you get down to it, these naysayers are our fathers, mothers, brothers, sisters, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandfathers and grandmothers.

We must be patient and understanding of their fears they have of entering into the future.

Because trying to deny there will be a future of changes is a fool's way of viewing the world and all who reside upon it.

do you have a point buried in there? The fact is Current started as a Citizen Journalism project where "the people" would report on the stuff overlooked by the media which going on around them all the time. Management changed and over time more emphasis was placed on their own professionally produced shows while drawing in other shows like Rotten Tomatoes and The Young Turks. Meanwhile user content faded to the point of nothingness. This was not a natural evolution of change by a long shot if that is what you are talking about.

True. (I know it is sarcasm.) But what you wrote is accurate. Morality should be in the arena of the community - social values and pressures, not legal action.

However, communities can inforce laws that help support moral behavior and punish degeneracy, such as zoning laws. In addition, individual states can have laws that protect the lives of unborn babies and preserve marriage.

But yes, if one simply looks at the Constitution, the branches of federal government has no business in legislating, enforcing or adjudicating morality, of course.

That is a temp issue. "On the basis of known reserves,

That is a big thing when you think that we all need to be
      running on something else!
No oil for lube for the engine, so this is bad.

I think that is why there is a push for new things, like digging for gas!
The oil running out in 2050, might be 2030, or something longer.
It depends what they did, did they pull out more oil to stabilize the world,
making the run out date 2030?

Anyway It's not about the oil it's the end date.
The End date has nothing to do with the big oil cartel of Qatar country!

    • The huffington post trash that came over here during that exodus is what ruined the site. They brought with them their feuds, and tried to turn this site into a mini- huffington post community.

Current always had differing opinions, debates and arguments but Current was never so politicized and combative until the ex-huffers came here.

They add nothing of value to discussion just trade generic political talking points when they banter with one another that usually don't even relate to the subject matter of an article.

Their whole goal seems to be to food fight with another and get each banned. They abuse the reporting function by turning every thread into a "flag" fest.

I guess that's how it was over at huffington post just politicized food-fighting and flagging each other. But when they brought their feuds over here to current, these superficial members managed to get a multitude real members of current . com for 3, 4, ,5,6, and 7 years, banned from the site in matter of year.

So while long time anchors of Current such of Kennymowtown, Janforgore and progressive, have left, even more of the old anchors of current got flat out banned..

Pretty soon all that is going to be left is the vapid ex-huffers food fighting on current. (Look at some of the trite and vapid comments on this thread you can see who they are. ) But this something the ex-huffers could go back to their old website and do.

Current was way different than the Huffington post. There use to be posts about art, science, discoveries, user created content/ documentaries. (There use to even be a creative and vibrant marijuana/stoner community on current.)

I came here for the weird. The corkyness you couldn't find any where else.
      Then Current got "huffed."

You can tell who the groups of ex-huffers are, that now fight each other on Current threads. When all they do is submit politically partisan articles, make politically partisan comments, never comment on an article about science, art culture, or if they do, it's a either a politically charged comment barely related or unrelated to the subject matter It's pretty easy to tell who they are.

Occasionally they will post a trite, generic, ingenuine comment on community related articles likes this one, they'll post to make themselves temporarily appear like a normal concerned member of the community. But right back to food fighting they'll go.

They stick out like a sore thumb. Political extremists from all sides of the isle.

They fit this description from flame wars only the only articles/subjects they fight about is politics.

"... Duelists generally don't menace anyone but each other, unless, of course, another Warrior foolishly gets between them. They may not even remember what started the fight, but not they cordially loathe one another and seize every to go at each other. When the other Warriors eventually weary of their endless kvetching the Duelists will be shouted down or Nanny will ban them. Even after getting the heave-ho from one forum, however, it is not unusual for them to seeking each other in other forums to renew their fight."

"Dagum has been here for years and he was never known to be a troublemaker."

Well, maybe you can explain why he picked me out of the crowd to chuck his negative remarks towards.

Since all I can fathom his reasons are is that I've only been here since June, 2011.

My reply to his original comment was posted with respect and he felt the need to go on the attack because of that?

      Oh well...

"The huffington post is not out to get you!"

Those that hold a grudge against HuffPo and all who do not frequent the site limit their information that's available to learn a thang or three, IMHO. They most likely don't like MSNBC, NBC, or any left-leaning site, for that matter.

Hell, I go to Fixed Noise occasionally...just to see what and how the "enemy" is taking current news and twisting it into pretzels!

But I can only last for a few minutes and then I must exit "stage left".

I tip my hat to you!

Either way, I sure do miss Keith!

I'm originally from HP. Thank you for bringing this up to bring this out in the open.
HP is a very clique-type environment. Very Face-Bookie and certain members can often be quite territorial protecting their HP turf; those same members will often trash HP, constantly. It's bizzare at best. Perhaps, just another part the on-going frustration of censorship overload at HP?
And, a lot of HP's problems (back then that you're referring to) were also due to very shoddy moderation issues; one of the biggest problems was that they allowed flash-mob gang activity to harass certain members.

      That is incorrect, Dagum.
David H came to Current by himself. I remember it well because on his FIRST day here, he was immediately (ambushed) with accusations of being congoboy, Funky, and Political Amazon by another former banned Current member.

It's very hard to be a newbie on Current. Newbies often get attacked and get accused of being other individuals or having secondary accounts which is so unnecessary; it causes more friction on this site. Especially, when an innocent newbie gets banned, unjustly.
It also isn't fair for anyone who wants to join as a newbie on Current.

OOOPS! When I reread my comment I realized it wasn't what I wanted it to convey.

...the old false-equivalency "argument" yes I know it well, we here are somehow equal and opposite to Faux Noise - bull$hit! They allow no discourse or disagreement from the reich-party-line at Faux Noise.

It's one of my favorites too. Really encapsulates the truth of Faux Noise the ministry-of-(DIS)-information for the reich-party. Could go into business selling them! I don't remember where I got it, so no idea if it belongs to anyone though...

Naa not really. Either you are a productive member of the community or like myself and so many others your just a Phucking Troll looking to poke folks with a dull stick. I'm just here now for the free coffee and the parking spot.

Keith Olbermann got K.O'd but before he did, he had his own show that really wasn't a part of this community. The community never bought into his act and that's partly why he got kicked off the team here. HE WASN'T A TEAM PLAYER. My only wish now, after listening to you, was that someone else would have given him a job so the parasites that followed here would have left with him. Keith Olbermann left his trash scattered all over the front lawn of Current.TV. I liked Keith but I never drank his Cool-aid. You shouldn't have either. Now I understand.

Dude, please stop grinding your teeth. I never have like the Huff Po format and no, I never have posted one comment on any of their blogs. NEVER. I occasionally blog on the USA Today site and that's it for me. I was never attracted to the Huffington Post.

What's my agenda ? I didn't know that I had to have one. I guess my agenda, where as you're concerned is to try staying away from people that have these huge chips on their shoulders.

Wow....you do use a wide brush to paint all that anger you obviously possess for a sizable chunk of Current members. And just because we think KO was only one of the few Progressive commentators that fought the fight against the insanity that was AND is the GOP Platform? He championed issues that pertained to 99% of the population of this country, i.e., gun restrictions, healthcare, living wages, voting rights and on and on! Too numerous to count or for me to type in this comment. He would give both Republican AND Democratic politicians a hard time asking TOUGH questions that they all felt uncomfortable to answer. He held their feet to the fire on so many occasions few would enter his "realm". They knew they were in for challenges brought forth by KO. That's why so few politicians would appear on his t.v. show(s)!

He had done far more than most journalists dared when it came to hard interviews digging for the truth and seeking answers to dilemmas we Americans face on a daily basis.

And then you find it within you to attack not just the KO "friends", but you lash out at those of us who visit HuffPo, too. So now you've just pissed off two, count 'em, TWO groups of Current members because of your myopic vision of who should be here and have judged us to be an "enemy" to your virtual world on these "intertubes"! If you're not a Neocon, Chickenhawk or a Far Rightwing Republican, you should reconsider your Party affiliation, because you're DEFINITELY NOT what I would imagine as a Democrat, Liberal, Progressive, Independent or Socialist.

There are those who may never come to agreement on everything under the Sun, but you take things to a whole new level. You launch personal attacks against those who do not want what you do. Restricting others' rights. Especially pertaining to this website.

But...I'm an eternal optimist and am hoping that one day you will see the "light", rather than all that darkness you seem to revel in. Judge me however you want. I wasn't in the U.S. Navy for four years ('69-'73) for nothing. I was fighting for YOUR right to say or think whatever you wish about me. Even if I don't care to hear, read or give it one nanosecond of thought to dwell upon!

I come in peace and shall leave you with that thought.

You may want to exclaim that that is who you are, but you're not fooling anyone...you're one of the happy folks here! We all see through that facade you try to pass off as the real "you"...it ain't workin' dude!

It's way too obvious that you aren't the type to lambast others for entertainment purposes only.

You're one of the nicest Current members here!

Now, where's my cookie for tooting your horn?

      "...I wasn't talking about you..."

I knew that already. No need to say a thang about it! The use of that general "you" rather than a specific "you"...always gets me in trouble!

We need to come up with a way for folks to see the difference at a glance. All I can think of is putting the word in parentheses....LOL

Mm, mm, good cookie! Better than a rubber biscuit!
