Chris Matthews: Natural Rights and Second Amendment Are Racist

You know establishment liberals are desperate when they start throwing around the race card to defend their attacks on the Constitution and the Bill of Rights.

On Thursday, that’s exactly what former D.C. cop and MSNBC script reader Chris Matthews did – he called the NRA’s Wayne LaPierre a racist for daring to defend the god-given natural right of self-defense.

“Hurricanes. Tornadoes. Riots. Terrorists. Gangs. Lone criminals,” LaPierre wrote for the Daily Caller on Wednesday. “These are perils we are sure to face – not just maybe. It’s not paranoia to buy a gun. It’s survival. It’s responsible behavior, and it’s time we encourage law-abiding Americans to do just that.”

He also wrote that “the American people clearly see the daunting forces we will undoubtedly face: terrorists, crime, drug gangs, the possibility of Euro-style debt riots, civil unrest or natural disaster.”

Unfortunately, the NRA boss discounted the primary reason there is a Second Amendment and safely framed his argument within parameters defined by the state.

“Gun owners are not buying firearms because they anticipate a confrontation with the government. Rather, we anticipate confrontations where the government isn’t there—or simply doesn’t show up in time,” he wrote.

In fact, many Americans are buying guns fully expecting to one day fight government tyranny. As Andrew Napolitano has pointed out, the Second Amendment was written to protect the right to shoot tyrants, not skeet shoot (a reference to Obama’s ridiculous claim – supposedly backed up by a photo – that he likes to go up to Camp David and skeet shoot).

Self-defense has nothing to do with the Bill of Rights. John Locke pointed this out when he declared the right to self-defense is the first law of nature. “And thus it is that every man in the state of Nature has a power to kill a murderer,” he wrote in An Essay Concerning the true original, extent, and end of Civil Government.

Elsewhere on MSNBC, Alex Wagner also accused LaPierre of racism. “There’s also a lot of racial – racism imbedded” in his statement about self-defense and the Second Amendment. “He goes on to impugn Latin America as these kind of dark nights with dark people in Brooklyn,” she said in response to the undeniable fact Mexican and Latin American drug gangs are operating on American streets.

Novelist and guest Kurt Andersen contradicted reality by stating that “There were, not only not looters in south Brooklyn. Everybody was out helping everybody else…It was the opposite of that description.” Mr. Andersen was apparently not paying attention when the “Sandy Loot Crew” displayed their pilfered goods on Twitter.

The feeding frenzy exhibited by the usual suspects on MSNBC and AOL’s HuffPo reveal not only the distasteful slavering government-loving character of the corporate media’s liberal caste, but also their complete disconnection from reality.

Residents in America’s largest cities – from Chicago to New York and Los Angeles – know there is a criminal predatory class on the loose and it is their responsibility – indeed, their right – to defend themselves and their families, as Locke said in 1690.

Privileged MSNBC anchors and their liberal intelligentsia guests – chauffeured to and from guarded studios in limos – are apparently oblivious to this modern fact of life in America.

    • Was this taken directly from Faux News or the NRA. ? Hard to tell.
      However ,in reading up on the. the 1700s, the place was over run with pissed off slaves, of many colors, pissed off First Nations People, pissed off indentured servants , pissed off felons from the English Penal System dumped here by convict ships cleaning the British Prisons...and many more just plain off pissed off peoples. It's no wonder the haves , and that's who wrote the Constitution, put in the 2d. Self preservation. Everyone has s theory. that's mine. No need to comment.

    • The Brits got it right. Cops lightly armed. Citizens more lightly. Very few gun deaths compared to our rate and no arms war between police and citizens. No safe haven for the merchants of death. No rampant paranoia as we are seeing here.

      Yes. We like it that way. And so do the police. A recent poll by the Police Federation to find out whether their serving officers wanted to be routinely armed got a resounding "no thanks". Many even stated they would resign if required to carry a weapon.
      However, tasers are now being introduced in some areas.

      The problem was that the slaves didn't have guns, not the slaver owners had guns.

      Slavery wouldn't have even existed if the 2nd right to bear arms was guaranteed to everyone.

      None of the guaranteed rights under Constitution originally applied. Blacks had to fight tooth and nail to get them. The 1st amendment 5th, 6th. And so forth. Many of these rights have actually only been expanded in past 100 years to even poor whites because Blacks had to fight them in Court look at the major court cases particularly 6th amendment.

      Matthews is wrong.

      Behind almost every major Supreme Court that expanded Constitutional rights in the last 100 year you'll see a Black plaintiff.

      The most recent Case McDonald v. City of Chicago (2010), which expanded the right to bear arms to citizens of every state.

      Otis McDonald, a 76 year old (in 2010) retired maintenance engineer, had lived in the Morgan Park neighborhood since buying a house there in 1971.[7] McDonald decried the decline of his neighborhood, describing it as being taken over by gangs and drug dealers. His lawn was regularly littered with refuse and his home and garage had been broken into a combined five times, with the most recent robbery committed by a man McDonald recognized from his own neighborhood.[7] An experienced hunter, McDonald legally owned shotguns, but believed them too unwieldy in the event of a robbery, and wanted to purchase a handgun for personal home defense. Due to Chicago's requirement that all firearms in the city be registered, yet refusing all handgun registrations after 1982 when a citywide handgun ban was passed, he was unable to legally own a handgun.

      He ultimately challenged the Chicago anti-gun regulation and got it struck down in the Supreme Court.

      It's perverse to try and take away rights when worked so hard to get them expanded.

    • Not a Mathews fan, but he's right. Ultimately, survival comes down to intelligence, not how well armed you are.The majority of gun nuts I hear are not just racists, they are sadists. They drool for, pray for, and long for someone to break into their homes so they can have an excuse for to pretend they are something they will never be. As for hunters all I have to say is a REAL hunter is one who can trap his prey and then end it's life!

    • I think this is ironic given that the very first instances of gun control legislation in this country were implemented during the Jim Crow era against newly freed blacks. Further gun control legislation was passed in an attempt to disarm the Black Panthers too. Now it is class discrimination rather than race discrimination but the same story.

    • Always remember when the shooting starts and you have a gun to protect yourself and others, a liberal will be right behind you. If Mr. Matthews somehow should survive such a predicament, he would be right back claiming the shooter had his reasons and the victims somehow deserved it.

      I don't CC, but I do have a rifle at all times in my car. You just never know. Mostly for killing a deer that might need a "mercy shot" after being struck by a vehicle. I have done that twice. Both times hit by others. My only deer/vehicle collision was a good one. Killed immediately.

      If a cop needed help...I hope I never find out what I might do. I am sighted in for 100 yards. That is all the closer I would want to get.

    • What a load of crap. LaPoop wants everyone cowering in their homes with their precious guns and shooting anything that moves. He's a total nut job and Matthews and Wagner are not afraid to call him out on his paranoia, Kudos to them.

      Above anything, the NRA’s enemies list reveals its capacity to hold a grudge. It includes a long, long list of celebrities, many of which are far from Hollywood’s elite circles. It is not clear why the nation’s top gun organization feels so threatened by Art Garfunkel, for example. Or why Washington’s most heavily armed lobbyists fear a ragtag list of former talk show hosts, washed up actors and what appears to be the entirety of Frank Zappa’s progeny. Gun owners beware! Both Boyz II Men and ‘NSYNC are coming for your guns, and the NRA is very, very afraid.

    • Christ Matthews is right, the Constitution is a racist document. The founding fathers were feeble minded morons, a monkey throwing feces at a piece of paper could have come up with a more intelligent document.

      As progressives we must continue to do away with and progress past the Constitution, in order to achieve a more civil society.

      That's how these people think. It's what we are up against and why the Country is in for so much trouble.

      If the gun-grabbers, limousine liberals and silk stocking socialists could ban the Constitution tomorrow, they'd do it in a heartbeat.

      It turns out that sort of people who devote their lives to preparing our children for adulthood don’t much like to learn that a young life has been cut short by gun violence either. The NRA’s enemies list includes the American Association of School Administrators, the American Federation of Teachers, the Council of Chief State School Officers, the National Education Association, the National Association of School Psychologists and the National Association of Elementary School Principals.

      I don't like anyone getting killed with gun or with Drowns but I am smart enough to know what will happen to this Country if the guns are outlawed, the bad guys and the cops will have the only guns, the bad guys have a lot of money and will own the cops then we will become like Mexico. Look at the 15 cops that just got arrested in Atlanta. It's like that everywhere, people need to open their eyes.
