If the zombies ever do rise up in the U.S., Canada will be prepared. On Thursday in the House of Commons, Canadian politicians debated the prospect of a zombie invasion and demanded to know what the government was prepared to do in case a (typically) American epidemic began to spread northwards.Winnipeg representative Pat Martin asked Foreign Affairs Minister John Baird if he was coordinating with the United States to prepare for an eventual zombie apocalypse. It wasn’t an entirely serious discussion, of course; as the Washington Post put it, the back-and-forth was a “playful jab” at the current strain of zombie-themed emergency preparedness drills in both the U.S. and Canada. The Centers for Disease Control have published a graphic novel titled Preparedness 101: Zombie Pandemic; according to the Post, a mock zombie invasion also served as the basis of a recent disaster-planning exercise.
“I don’t need to tell you, Mr. Speaker, that zombies don’t recognize borders,” Martin said. “A zombie invasion in the United States could easily turn into a continent-wide pandemic if it’s not contained.”
Baird zippily replied how “dead-icated” he was to the matter of preventing a zombie crisis. “Under the leadership of this prime minister, Canada will never become a safe haven for zombies, ever,” he declared.

Loved this! Canada will never be a safe place for Zombies....or Tea Baggers for that matter! It's nice to see they have a sense of humor. I wish members of our government could be like that. Thanks for posting, cpad :)

In this report, spokespersons for Quebec and the U.S., the 2 entities involved in the Zombie preparedness exercises, are quoted saying they are doing it to get the public prepared for a real disaster, should one occur.
Apparently the U.S. and Quebec do not believe real disasters that have actually been happening have not been getting our attention. It would seem we are not quite frightened enough of things that could kill us at any moment, and they need the attention grabber that Zombies can bring to the “keep them frightened at all cost” strategy.
One CDC spokesperson told the Washington Post “The idea was put in place to make a drab subject a bit more lively.”Terrorism and the increase in storm violence and natural disasters have become drab? We need Zombies to make sure they are paying attention?
A person is far more likely to die from a heart attack than a terrorist attack. Let’s spend our money on the thing that isn’t likely to happen, but we have been told should frighten us the most.
"I was cowering in the corner waiting for the terrorists, and my own heart attacked me because we have no money for health care because I spent it all on cowering in the corner waiting for the terrorists. Oh yes, and Zombies too."

ROFL! Our tax dollars at work. Of course that is tame compared to how they usually act. So it's nice to see they can have a sense of humor, it helps break the tension. Thanks for the post Cpad, I enjoyed it.
