Don't forget to click on the link to the article so as to read the ENTIRE story! I found it fascinating!

Excerpts from the article:

"Recent investigations into the psychology of liberals and conservatives have found a number of subtle differences, from conservatives exhibiting more squeamishness to liberals paying less attention to negative stimuli or threats."

"Comparing the Democrat and Republican participants turned up differences in two brain regions: the right amygdala and the left posterior insula. Republicans showed more activity than Democrats in the right amygdala when making a risky decision. This brain region is important for processing fear, risk and reward.

Meanwhile, Democrats showed more activity in the left posterior insula, a portion of the brain responsible for processing emotions, particularly visceral emotional cues from the body. The particular region of the insula that showed the heightened activity has also been linked with "theory of mind," or the ability to understand what others might be thinking."

You may visit another thread any time you wish.

Oh...and while you're at it...tell it to a Republican and see how they would respond to you in that regard.

There is no equivalency. There is sanity of Progressivism, and the IN-sanity of "conservatism". The realty, science, and future of Progressivism, and the snake-handler "beliefs", voodoo, and back-ward medieval "thinking" of the "conservatives".

"New study? I heard about this like 3 years ago."

Different study...same subject being researched...with the same results.

Republicans are brainless. There could be thousands of studies made and the same outcome is inevitable!

And that goes for whoever votes for the Republican Party, also.

      Unless you're a billionaire.

" I would of found where huffingtonpost got their info & got the story from there!"

What's next from you? Wanting me to tie your shoes for you, too?

Some things should be done by each one of us.

I provided the kernel of information to whet your appetite.

And FYI, if you search this thread, you shall find another link to an article I posted in this same category.

Not everything in life is free. You need to begin your own search for truth.

Or I could do it for you....for a price.

Point me to a posted article of yours where you spent considerable time researching it prior to sharing it with others. and I will leave a comment praising your extensive, exhaustive digging for all the information and not just highlighting the subject matter.

      Critics are so abundant here.

Perchance, that's why I like it here.....

Iike me I have been looking for an old 1988 study where this guy had his sight crossed for a month. (Right eye sees left & left sees right.) He had a para-scope taped to his head that crossed his vision.
I don't remember what college did it. So Im looking into it at the colleges.

I seek out all pertinent information I need to come to a rational, educated decision to what I wish to learn. Wherever that path leads me, I go.

If I were to share ALL that I have on any given subject, I would be filling up this thread...and since Current's server might lay down and die from all that I can post...I limit what I place within my comments.

I...of all people...comprehend that this "internet ink" is inexhaustible. As is the "intertube paper" I use that "internet ink" on to share my thoughts, beliefs and ideals with whomever.

FYI...I did find this neuroscientific article that best describes your search using a periscopic mirror: http://www.jneurosci.org/content/23/11/4689.full.pdf

      Hope it helps.

And, if I may, I'd like to share with you one of my favorite quotes by one of my favorite authors:

The study I was looking at is the old time school.
It had a video of the guy riding a bike
driving a car (only on campus!) etc.
I would like to do it in a old school frontier days study kind of story!

    • One day, a guy goes to a surgeon to inquire about a brain transplant. They walk into the laboratory where the brains on offer are nicely displayed and the surgeon proceeds to give his prospective client the fifty-cent tour, so to speak.

"This first one belonged to a mathematician," explains the surgeon, "It'll run you $85,000."

The guy nods as the surgeon continues: "And this one that belonged to a nuclear physicist is going for $100,000."

Moving along a little further, the surgeon points out a slightly smaller brain.

"This brain, from a Republican donor, will set you back a good $500,000."

"Why so much?" asks the suddenly puzzled prospective patient.

The surgeon allows himself to giggle slightly before answering: "It's never been used!"

"but remember who nominated him in the 2000 primaries!!!"

I thought McCain would win the primary but, Pappy Bush pulled all the strings he had, called in all his "markers" politicians owed him and threatened the rest with revealing what he had on those folks. And the rumor was flying around that many Republicans were complaining that Democrats and other non-Republicans crossed Party lines to vote for McCain over Bush. However, with all that said, the RNC nominated him to be their representative.

Which was complete BS about Dems supporting McCain. But , hey...Rethuglicans see "enemies" under their beds, behind doors, around corners and even in their daily GOP pablum they're spoon fed every morning!

But, truth be known, GWB did not win the presidential election in 2000! It was handed to him by the SCOTUS.

And who runs the RNC today? Why...Reince Priebus! And we all know what's left when you remove all the vowels from his name....RNC PR BS. What a fitting bit of information to digest!

I can hear the discussion between two Republicans conversing today, "Stem cell research is the Devil's tool. It will only lead to a dead end with so much money spent on it...it's ridiculous!", says Republican One. "Yes, how can scientists play 'God'? Our brains can't contain all the information that God knows!", answered Republican Two.

"It's a well known fact that liberalism is a mental illness."

In a society of idiots a genius would stand out like a sore thumb and be considered "abnormal".

So, in your Neocon, Connedservative world, yes, Liberals would be the anomaly. And the masses would want the genius to conform to their mental standards.

But isn't that's what is happening to this country...with the Herculean efforts the GOP puts into shutting down by not funding the public education system? It's a deliberate dumbing down of the populace.

Id' say the GOP is gaining ground in their goal.

Yes, it is fascinating to interact with Liberals. In fact, Conservatives are rather dull. They have lives of responsibility, belief in community, love of family. All dull stuff compared to LEFT-WINGERS wanting to save the world, advocating revolution, promoting huge government power, OWS "rape and defecation rallies," promiscuity, and on and on. More interesting.

Heh, I talked to one of these "honor students" the other day, and he didn't even know Alaska was a state! And also thought Abraham Lincoln was the first president!

Yes, the population has been dumbed down, and no amount of funding is gonna replace actual learning.

"Okay, then explain why the liberal controlled inner city public schools lowered test standards to churn out a generation of "honor students"?"

Let me explain this in the simplest terms I can for you...which is difficult for me, as I do not frequent that level of near unconsciousness...unless I have to.

There has been quite a period of time that Republican governors have ruled their "roost" and have been instrumental in what and how monies are spent on education in their respective states. In 2012, there were 30 Republican governors in control of their state educational system. Here in Ohio, our lovely Governor Kasich has done his darnedest to de-fund public schools and his "plans" for the state's educational future has been quite the topic here in the past few days.

Now, the Federal government provides SOME funds, but it's a governor's decision as to how that is distributed to educate those governors' student citizens. Most school districts' "income" is supported through property taxes collected. In case you weren't aware of how things work concerning public education monetary support.

I see it as "GIGO"...garbage in (money spent)...garbage out (under-educated youth)! You get what you're willing to pay for.

But Ohio is well known for our public educational system AND our public libraries! We speak fluent English here in Ohio! Hell, I didn't graduate past the Third Grade in Ohio and even then I received the equivalent of a two year college degree compared to what I would have been taught in say, a school system "down" South.

This is just more proof that you can't change the mind of a true Republican. I'm just glad that there are fewer and fewer true Republicans left. But this doesn't give me much hope that the fever on the GOP side will break anytime soon. I think the country is in for another rough four years of the GOP saying "NO" to everything that can move the country forward.

People have different motivations for sure. The total focus on the extremes only serves to divide. If you want a clear picture of reality you must at least stand on the slopes of the population bell curve of the political spectrum at some point in your life. there you will find the manipulation. Wingers of either extreme have only a partial view of the realty of the situation.

      Propaganda...and different motivations for sure.

I don't think scientific discovery could be described in such a manner as that.

Science is neither pro-Republican nor Democrat.

      It is what it is.

But your typical Conservative Christian Republican despises science. They attest to their "fact" that the earth is 6,000 years old. That global climate change does not exist. And that's not taking into consideration the far rightwingers, as you say.

Now, I will admit the Democrat Party has a far left wing...but they would never speak of the things I mentioned above.

But motivations of the far right versus the far left? Do I have some information to share with you...

"The far left (also known as the extreme left, radical left or ultra left) refers to the highest degree of leftism in left-wing politics. The far left seeks the creation of strong or complete equality in economic and social opportunity and the dismantlement of all forms of social stratification. Far leftists seek to abolish all forms of hierarchy, particularly to end inequitable distribution of wealth and power. The far left seeks a society in which everyone is provided equal economic and social opportunities, and no one has excessive wealth or power over others.

In societies that tolerate dissent, far-left groups usually participate in the democratic process. Proponents of horseshoe theory interpretation of the left-right spectrum argue that the far left and far right have more in common with each other as mutual extremists than they have with moderate centrists." - Wikipedia

      And then...

"The far-right (also known as the extreme right) refers to the highest degree of rightism in right-wing politics. Far right politics involves support of strong or complete social hierarchy in society, and supports supremacy of certain individuals or groups deemed to be innately superior who are to be more valued than those deemed to be innately inferior.

The far right's advocacy of supremacism is based on what its adherents perceive as innate characteristics of people that cannot be changed. This stands as a point of difference with the center-right's attribution of behaviors, such as laziness or decadence, as the primary sources of social inequalities. The center right - unlike the far right - claims that people can end their behavioral inferiority through changing their habits and choices.

The original far right, which emerged in France after the French Revolution, refused to accept the French Republic and supported a counter-revolution to restore the French monarchy and aristocracy. The far right is commonly associated with persons or groups who hold extreme nationalist, xenophobic, racist, religious fundamentalist or reactionary views. The most extreme-right movements have pursued oppression and genocide against groups of people on the basis of their alleged inferiority." - Wikipedia

Now do you see the difference? And why they are so ready to fight against the other for what they believe is to be true?

What the GOP will soon find out is that there are more of "us" than "them", and they will lose the fight in the end.

    • "The manipulation of physical nature and of specific economic and social mechanisms demand alike the amassing of a body of knowledge such as is supplied in an ordered set of hypotheses. The technological advances of the bourgeois period are inseparably linked to this function of the pursuit of science. On the one hand, it made the facts fruitful for the kind of scientific knowledge that would have practical application in the circumstances, and, on the other, it made possible the application of knowledge already possessed. Beyond doubt, such work is a moment in the continuous transformation and development of the material foundations of that society. But the conception of theory was absolutized, as though it were grounded in the inner nature of knowledge as such or justified in some other ahistorical way, and thus it became a reined, ideological category."
"As a matter of fact, the fruitfulness of newly discovered factual connections for the renewal of existent knowledge, and the application of such knowledge to the facts, do not derive from purely logical or methodological sources but can rather be understood only in the context of real social processes. When a discovery occasions the restructuring of current ideas, this is not due exclusively to logical considerations or, more particularly, to the contradiction between the discovery and particular elements in current views. That new views in fact win out is due to concrete historical circumstances."
"Whether and how new definitions are purposefully drawn up depends in fact not only on the simplicity and consistency of the system but also, among other things, on the directions and goals of research. These last, however, are not self-explanatory nor are they, in the last analysis, a matter of insight."
"As the influence of the subject matter on the theory, so also the application of the theory to the subject matter is not only an intrascientific process but a social one as well."

Please tell me Me3zzeyi, without 'copy and pasting' a long dissertation of a philosopher's opinion...in your OWN words, Sir or Madam - whichever the case may be....what's yours?

This inquiring mind would certainly like to know!

"this is a recurring topic here on this site and people dont seem to realize the grave consequences this way of thinking has."

Ever go to a frightwing website and see what the Rethuglicans say about Libruls, Progress-shivs or those dastardly DemocRATS?

These are love letters compared to the vitriol they spout through their pie holes!

I guess when the truth hits close to home...the wailing and gnashing of teeth follows.

weakness and immaturity in another's argument does not gaurantee strength and credibility in mine. i'm not defending right-wingers, i post on this topic over and over because its alarming when the "left" in the US succumbs to the type of discourse that the right has historically used to embolster itself (and commit horrific crimes).

besides its not a matter of left and right, these types of studies, regardless of your political position are invalid and detrimental. this is a sign of how polarized politics in the US is coming, how science (or more so social science) functions ideologically, and more importantly how these psedo-scientific studies futher exaggerate and justify the schisms. why have a national dailogue when the other side is biologically inferior to you right?

Just as I thought - Frankfurt School

I spotted you right off the bat.

In case some of the others do not know about the Frankfurt School, it was a MARXIST school, transplanted in the United States and influential in universities from the 1960s. It advocated the COMMUNIST GRAMSCI'S doctrine of attacking the culture because pure Marxism - with its attacks on economic class only - would not be successful. Marcuse was the more famous of the group.

      PURE MARXIST HATE.

If you're referring to the Republican Party as being inferior? You've hit the kewpie doll and won a clown!

Marxism is a failed idea, and it is based on false premises. It has caused immense suffering for decades.

You can spout the usual drivel that it has not yet been successfully tried, but that is not true. The reality of it is really in its manifestations in societies, and it has caused more suffering, poverty, tyranny and death than any ideology known to man.

Deconstructionism is a lie - the proponents lie to themselves and others, claiming that they are being objective. The only "objective" part is their "objective," of course: Promote their pre-determined ideology, which is a curse on anyone who accepts it. Either the people who accept it are part of the power structure that causes suffering and death, or they become "victims" in a world that - in their distorted minds - is one only filled with oppressors and the oppressed, victims and victimizers.

    • I have so many thought about this. When I registered to vote by first thought was I was more like a democrat than I remembered old Bill and NAFTA. 2004 I said I was independent for my first ever vote. I have known and build friendships with many from both sides and people who think the whole system is garbage for different reasons. Off hand I think Republican are more comfortable with miss information and believing in their personal god perceptions. Dems will do the same when they really want something. I think people are blind by their addictions! I am not a lying doctor!
