It’s tragic that government officials have been goaded into being penny wise and dollar foolish by the Corporate Right. The greatest number of pre retirement people I’ve learned of going on social security disability, are those who have so badly damaged their bodies and brains from addictive drug use, and the diseases that are acquired from unprotected sex which usually accompanies drug use. If drugs were decriminalized and all addicts offered controlled doses of that which they are addicted to, after registering them and providing counseling for them, we’d both reduce the costs to society’s loss due to drug crime, law enforcement expenses, judicial expenses, incarceration expenses, medicaid expenses, and Social Security and Disability expenses. These combined expenses are far greater than non substance abuse related disabilities. However, everyone in this country is on government aid from birth. Our entire economic systems is subsidized by the Public in a subterfuged socialist manner. Our State Department, and the money spent to support it, is little more than a glorified public lobby for big business, wrapped in red, white and blue. Our military has been nothing more than an arm of big business forcing U.S. big business down the throats of foreign countries since WWII. Public guaranteeing of finance and banking losses, in addition to the latest bailouts, is merely public subsidy of those activities. It can’t be lost on those observing these situation closely that all the attention which the Corporate Right has directed at “social entitlements” is to distract public attention from the biggest elephant in the room, the socialist support of big business.
