If the glbt population wants to get married then let them. Actually I believe that marriage is a sacrament and is performed in a church. The government has no business telling a church whom they should marry. If it is the policy of a church, or a parish, not not perform the sacrament with a gay couple then so be it. As far as a civil union in city hall, no problem. This is not a place the central government has any business. I don't know why all the noise anyhow. Marriage is not a "right".

Marriage was a civil union that wasn't performed by the church until the 10th Century, when Rome decided the best way to take over the world was through procreation. The few weddings that took place in the church for the first millennium A.D. were same-sex unions, as well-documented by Prof. John Boswell of Harvard.
