Chevy Chase: Weekend Update recognizes its obligation to present responsible opposing viewpoints to our editorials. Here to reply to a recent editorial, is Emily Litella.

Doctor Wants Bikini Wax Banned - as part of the news series by GeoBeats.

Shaving, plucking, waxing are some of the painful procedures women tolerate to look flawless.

However a doctor, Emily Gibson wants to curtail bikini waxing, laser hair procedures and other techniques for removing pubic hair. The fashion phenomenon, 'Bare Down There' is common in today's younger population. However, Gibson claims the pubic hair removal procedures increase the risk of infection and sexually transmitted diseases. Even hospital personnel are changing their ways: shaving the genital area was once common practice for some surgeries, but nowadays hair removal is not necessary unless it is causing interference with surgery. Gibson states, "Pubic hair does have a purpose, providing a cushion against friction that can cause skin abrasion and injury, and protection from bacteria. It is time to declare a truce in the war on pubic hair and allow it to stay right where it belongs."
