Coming up on Current TV in 2011

current2010

What a year it has been at Current TV! Gail Porter took us on an emotional journey to find out whether prostitution should be legalised; we investigated drug laws with former celebrity smuggler Howard Marks; Tim Shaw introduced us to mobsters, killers and crime scene cleaners, and Jeff Leach helped young Brits piece together the forgotten hours of their boozy nights out in our brand new series What Did I Do Last Night?

Our Monday night strand of hard-hitting documentaries continued, celebrating the work of legendary filmmaker Nick Broomfield and showcasing the best indie productions from Britain and beyond. From the Johnny Knoxville-produced Wild And Wonderful Whites of West Virginia, to up-and-coming producers exploring controversial issues through fearless storytelling (Bride Trafficking Unveiled, Incest: The Last Taboo).

What's coming up in 2011?

Next year will be as good if not better than 2010! Check out some of the new brilliant docs and series hitting your screens next year.

Extreme Tourist

Extreme Tourist

An extreme traveller opens the door to the undiscovered Afghanistan and meets the people living in the warzone. From the daily joys of talent competitions and wrestling matches to meeting members of the Taliban, we witness what day-to-day life is really like in a war-torn country.

Doctors Without Borders
Series following the lives of the staff working for Médecins Sans Frontières in the Democratic Republic of Congo. Current TV's cameras reveal a genuine warts and all picture of the organisation and the people within it as they go through the highs and lows of operating in one of the world's most unstable and poorest countries.

Forced Marriage Unit
MSFA Home Office report two years ago suggested that more than 3,000 young women in Britain are the victim of forced marriage every year. Families will often use physical and psychological abuse, blackmail and threats of imprisonment to force their children to accept a marriage. The one-hour documentary revolves around the work of The Forced Marriage Unit (FMU), run jointly by the Foreign and Commonwealth Office and the Home Office and will lift the lid on some of the ‘pushers’ and victims involved in forced marriages. The unit receives over 5,000 calls a year, some involving girls as young as 13, and the film follows the team at their busiest time of year: the school summer holiday.

Super Skinny Me

SuperskinnyThis shock-doc turns the feature film Super Size Me on its head by following a group of female journalists who attempt to slim down to a US size zero – the new size of choice. The film will document the experiences of these average-sized women as they employ the extreme weight-loss methods favoured by celebrities such as Lindsay Lohan, Nicole Richie and Victoria Beckham.

Deadliest Journeys

DeadliestDeadliest Journeys returns for a second, breath-taking season, taking you to the world's most treacherous roads, skies and waterways, where intrepid travellers risk life and limb to reach their destinations. From Mexico's train of death to jagged, rock-strewn mountain passes in Pakistan, this adrenaline-filled series is not for the faint-hearted.
