// April 16, 2010 by charlottegraceThis Wednesday 21st April, the Frontline Club is holding a work in progress screening of Daniel Bogado's film 'South Africa's Deadly Police Force' (Working title), a hard-hitting documentary investigating the Shoot To Kill policy in South Africa.
Daniel the director will be available for questions, as will presenter David Matthews, (Ch4 'The Problem With Black Men') about coming face to face with some of South Africa's most notorious drug dealers to ask their opinion about South Africa's criminal justice system. The screening will be followed by a drinks do where everyone can meet and discuss independent journalism...amongst other things. A great night.

Watch Chinatown, Africa Tonight!
// March 22, 2010 by aljonesHi All
Make sure you tune in to Current TV tonight to watch another amazing episode of Vanguard. Our fearless journalists bring you an investigative look at China's rapidly growing presence in Africa. While some welcome the investment, others are concerned that the rising super power may have an ulterior motive, and see this immigration as an aggressive colonial move, Mariana Van Zeller gets the story directly from the people at the heart of the issue.
Tune in on Sky channel 183 or Virgin channel 155

I'll be watching!

Current at Frontline Club in London Tonight
// March 15, 2010 by Lina1980The Frontline Club really is one of our favourite screening/ events places in London - check out their events.
Tonight Charlotte Dale and I will be there at the Brit Doc networking event talking to filmmakers about their works in progress. With the bods from BritDoc, Shooting People and Current there, it should be a really good night.
It's always worth going because if nothing else, the display cases in the events room are remarkable - all prosthetic limbs, cigarette packets that saved journalists' lives and so on are all on display.
It finishes at 8.30pm which means we'll be back in time for Meth Night tonight on Current TV (Virgin 155/ Sky 183) at 10pm...

This Week's Shenanigans
// March 01, 2010 by Lina1980This week we're viewing the first rough cut of our first hour-long, UK produced piece called Bride Trafficking Unveiled which will air on Current TV next month. Joel Mishcon and and Laura Barry have travelled the world to bring us this investagtive piece that will make us all look very differently at the realities of internet brides.
Very exciting.
Also in the pipeline: watching initial rushes for an exciting new film about undergrad prostitutes and sending our film Vigilante Britain into the finishing process.

Current TV at Brighton SEE Doc Fest this weekend!
// February 18, 2010 by sylviaw
Greetings from Current TV’s London headquarters! Word on the street is that Current’s associate producers Charlotte Dale and Sylvia Wroblewska are heading to the 5th annual SEE documentary festival in Brighton this weekend (20th and 21st of February) to check out what’s hot on the documentary circuit in 2010!
You should definitely check out this weekend of doco events, which includes influential lecture sessions hosted by Louis Theroux and Nick Broomfield, documentary development and production discussions with Al Jazeera, the Scottish Documentary Institute and commissioners.
The icing on the cake is a must for emerging filmmakers: Shooting People brings us Pitching for Docs session, where a selection of first time directors will pitch their ideas to a panel of industry professionals. The panel, hosted by SP’s Helen Jack, will include BRITDOC’s Maxyne Franklin, Sheffield Doc/Fest’s Charlie Phillips, and Current TV’s very own Charlotte Dale. These doco experts will provide feedback on the projects along with tips on how to pitch your idea and what they look for.
If you’d like to get in touch and meet in Brighton this coming weekend, drop Sylvia an email.We look forward to seeing you there!
