Master Of My Rubik

Tyson Mao is considered a new generation Rubik's Cube solver and began solving the cube during the puzzle's second emergence in 2003.
He organizes cubing competitions throughout the year, and in this pod we visit him and his friends as they prepare and compete in the 2006 International Rubik's Cube competition in San Francisco, California. Tyson believes that anyone can learn to solve the Rubik's Cube.

      World cube association WCA Board

      Gilles Roux (France)
      Masayuki Akimoto (Japan)
      Ron van Bruchem (Netherlands)
      Tyson Mao (USA)

      Verdict
WCA has come to the following verdict.

      - WCA has banned the competitor for three years for all WCA competitions, starting today. The competitor may appeal for reinstatement after two years, if he fully cooperates with WCA.
      - WCA has changed all blindfolded solves of the competitor to the result DNF (did not finish).
      - WCA has requested the competitor to return his prize money in blindfolded events to the competition organisers. The organisers can then redistribute the prize money.

      Dear WCA members,

A very heavy verdict in my opinion.
Would it be possible he enters non-blindfolding events earlier than march 2010?
Is there any depedency between retruning the price money and re-entering competitions in 2010?
Did any competitor on any price-money-event ever signed a statement for resepcting the WCA-rules?
Would this be a could idea for the future?

      Regards

Vomberg has been an avid cubist since he was a child, but it wasn't until he was 15 that he learned how to solve the cube blindfolded.
He once saw a man doing the puzzle behind his back and was inspired to try it himself.
"I thought this guy has to have extraordinary vision or something," he said. "I thought I'd try it."

    • In April of 2005, Tyson began learning the processes for solving a Rubik’s Cube blindfolded and on May 31, 2005, he recorded his first successful solve at 6 minutes 14.97 seconds. He improved quite quickly and within a few months, he had recorded times under two and a half minutes. On September 17, 2005, Tyson broke the world record for solving a Rubik’s Cube blindfolded. He recorded a time of 1 minute 58.32 seconds and became the first person to solve a Rubik’s Cube blindfolded in under 2 minutes.

    • Scientist's have FINALLY figured out that the Rubik's Cube can be solved in only 26 moves. Thanks science, I can finally sleep a little easier knowing you're on the case of solving a Rubik's Cube in the least amount of moves possible.
