Writers On Strike

Having long seen themselves as second-class citizens in Hollywood, television and movie writers are as mad as hell, and they're not going to take it anymore. And now they're prepared to deliver a script that no one wants to see. This Current Issue pod is a short made by a handful of writers who elude to what life after the strike would look like.

    • Writers seem to be unrecognized and underappreciated by the general masses as a result of Hollywood attitudes. TV and movie fans rush to congratulate actors on a beautiful performance, but forget that there couldn't have been one at all without someone to formulate the concept.

      Writers do a tough job that not many people understand, and within reason, the good ones deserve what they ask for.

    • at midnight. That doesn't mean for sure that there's going to be a strike, but that is a distinct possibility. Writers want a share of profits from digital downloads, and a re-do of the dvd agreement, that they feel short-changed them, badly.

      Daily, live shows would be the first hit - The Daily Show, The Colbert Report etc., cause without writers...they've got nothing to say.

      Your fave tv show should have enough episodes already written to get you through January or so...but a strike could mean we're looking at re-runs. Loads of re-runs.
