Lost Generation - simple but spectacular clip

richjm
This video came second in a contest for 20 year olds called 'u @ 50'. When it was recently shown in a screening alongside the other winners, the audience 'was awe-struck and broke into spontaneous applause.'

(The video at this link is reported to have won the contest: http://snipurl.com/50winner)

    • First the worst, second the best, all the rest with a hairy chest.

(An old childhood playground saying. I used to think it was funny, but now realise I only ever said to make me feel better about not winning.)

    • I think this is great! I am really glad that people my age are standing up and voicing their opinions about what is wrong with society today. We are spiraling downward and out of control. Changes must be made.

    • This is brilliant!!!! I wonder if they also reversed the sound bit??? That would be just fascinating! Thank you soooooo much for sharing this!

Imagine seeing this in a huge theater with great surround sound packed with people of "THIS" generation!

    • Would it be awkward for me to mention that this literally made me tear up while watching it? Ridiculous I know, but it provided a very simple sentiment that I find resounding in my own life far too often... Our society is crazy, we do need to make some changes.

    • I just watched the first place video- The AARP got sucked in by the clincher in the winning vid..."I'll still be dreaming", played on their egos. I agree with Justin- Second place was way better.

    • Cool device, I wonder how they wrote it, computer program, some kind of grammatical template?

I don't actually find it at all inspiring. Clever, though.

    • One of the most gorgeous pieces of writing I have ever seen. True creativity, talent, and insight are show here.

    • Okay, I'm calling bullsh*t. That first video was WAY more compelling than the "winner." Sure the "winner" had good production value in the form of lovely cinematography and solid editing, but it just smacked of overly earnest claptrap.

I've always been blown away at the talent of some people to hit on a simple, but powerful way of communicating an idea. Frankly, I'm jealous of those who can...

This video made me experience that "a-HA!" moment when the text started moving in reverse and I marveled at how the same words could be shifted in their meaning just by reversing the order of the sentences.

Seems to me like the judges at this AARP backed video contest must also be members...

    • That was outstanding and dead on considering current events. Seriously consider what this means to YOU and what can do or have done to actually facilitate the reversal.

    • Absolutely brilliant. I definitely didn't see that coming but it was really amazing.

The whole reversal on the monologue I think means a reversal in our thinking. Really great find. I'm glad you posted this!
