Amish Town Changes Meaning of the Day of Silence
In Ephrata, PA at the Ephrata Senior High two student try to create the Day of Slience in their school. Four years ago in 2004 two other student tried and were attacked by slurs and protests of people who didn't even have children or family in that school. This year two girls are trying again with much resistance. Half the teachers protest their actions and the principal actually made them change the name to day of diversity and have it support the other groups that have few rights. That is not what the day is about but the girls won't even be able to wear supportive ribbons unless they are for the Day of Diversity.
