Day of Silence No More
There are two schools in Lancaster County PA who refuse to acknowledge that this Friday, April 25, 2008 is the National Day of Silence. The schools have agreed to participate in the Day of Diversity which show support for all the communities who had to suffer silence, EXCEPT for the Gay, Lesbian, Bisexual, and Transgender persons who this day is origonally ment for. "That wold not be acceptable to support something that no one agrees with. Besides there are no students of that type in MY school!" states Principal Johan Eby of the Ephrata Senior HIgh School. This is completly untrue infact in November of 2007 a student named Elija tried to have a GSA stationed in the school, but was shot down by the Bible club who said that they were insulted and that if the school had allowed such an abomination to exist in the school they would sue. Looking in on the rules of the District hand book it stated that if one club was allowed to practice on school ground the district could not forbid another of the same or opposite side.
