Every year, about a dozen authors from around the world gather in beautiful Muskoka, North Ontario to compete in a novel writing marathon that spans the weekend. During the event, the authors can write at any time, all the time. The winner has a chance to be published. Our photographer Darren Lum took over 12 000 still images, while Producer Sue Kenney, and assistant producer Vanessa Shaver gathered sound bites, and interviews when the writers were available. We even heard from a 99 year old gentleman who learned to read when he was 92. The event promotes literacy for the Muskoka Literacy Council. Director Bruce Pirrie and editor Matthew Krist with brought the material together and created a digital flip-book. Each still frame has been sequenced, creating the visual effect of a frame by frame animation. Vanessa edited the interviews and sound bites into a soundscape to accompany the visuals. The result is dreamlike and inspiring.

Absolutely brilliant. The production on this is first rate - credit has to go to the photographer and editor who both excel. Terrific work!
