Yes, you got it right! Delhi is ready for a parade to be staged for the acknowledgment of homosexuals. The parade would start from Regal in CP and would reach Jantar Mantar passing through the inner circle. Some battles just have to be won.

Tomorrow, June 29, is going to be a big day for all the gays in Delhi. Yes, it’s the day for a gay parade here! While our country is yet to acknowledge consensual homosexual sex, there will be a gay parade through the central district of its capital.

According to the law of our country, consensual homosexual sex act is illegal and is punishable by imprisonment but everyone has the right to stage a march for their demands. In spite, it seems that trouble can erupt during this march.

Anand Mohan, deputy commissioner of police (DCP), North District is reported to have said, “We haven’t been approached by anyone for permission. Anybody is welcome to stage a march at Jantar Mantar but we don’t allow any movement inside area.”

But as per the details of the route, it would start at Regal Cinema at Connaught Place (CP), then go around the inner circle and come to Jantar Mantar. If this route is followed, then there are chances of a clash between the activists and police.

A queer rights activist, Deepti said, “We are not expecting trouble but we are taking required police permission for the event.”
