Helen Mirren "loved" taking coke

The actress, 63, told GQ Magazine she used the Class A drug "just a little bit at parties" until the early 1980s.

She said she gave up the drug after learning that Nazi war criminal Klaus Barbie had been making money from the drug in South America.

She said that, after reading a newspaper article about Klaus Barbie, "all the cards fell into place and I saw how my little sniff of cocaine at a party had an absolute direct route" to him.
"And from that day I never touched cocaine again," she added.

    • I think her perspective's an interesting one, and I don't think she's the type to wheel out shocking, salacious admissions just for the sake of some publicity. She's always been more focused on acting than stardom, no?

And good on her for pointing out the one huge problem with coke - however much fun it is (and I don't deny it's fun), poor and vulnerable people suffer horribly to get it to your Shoreditch vintage kitchen table for your skinny jeans, media fest, oh-so-spontaneous party at the weekend, which is reason enough for me at least not to be interested any more.

Yeah. I mean like a real coke whore. You know, that super fine lady that shows up and just got all of her coke for free, and then had sex. Do not try to tell me that she was above all of that. No way.

    • HAHA! She's so prim and proper about the whole thing (my little sniff of cocaine at a party) and her morals are great! Can't go giving money to those Nazi war criminals now can she, just the drug barons everywhere else around the world! I can see her being a bit of a wild child when she was younger!

    • Who cares if Helen Mirren took cocaine or not? She is a great actress, but I don't understand why she always have to come up with all sorts of 'confessions' to boost make her public image more controversial and interesting.

I know what you mean, I'm gonna go check to see if she's got any new movies coming out...

In other news, her description of what the Queen said to her was priceless:

"She said 'hello, it's lovely to meet you'. And that was about it, other than horsey chat."

I used to live in Holland where I smoked a joint a couple of times a week, but now that I live in Turkey; I quit, seeing as the drug money mainly goes to the PKK. (terrorist group)

And yet, a relatively big amount of the population uses drugs.
So wouldn't it be logical if drugs were made legal?
The government would be able to tax, and the quality would be high, leading to less phisical harm among users.
