Referee to review dodgy decision

Referee Rob Styles has agreed to look again at the dismissal of Newcastle defender Habib Beye after an incident-packed game at St James' Park.

Newcastle manager Joe Kinnear confirmed after his side's 2-2 draw with Manchester City that Rob Styles will study replays of the sending off of the Newcastle defender which saw Robinho handed a chance to take the lead from the penalty spot.

Television replays clearly showed that Beye had played the ball, and Kinnear wasted little time in speaking to Styles, who issued an apology after reviewing another penalty decision he gave against Bolton's Jlloyd Samuel during his side's 2-0 defeat at Manchester United last month.

Kinnear said: "I have been in to have a chat with him and he is prepared to have a look at it, and he will let me know what his views are in about four or five days.

Surely this is the start of television replays? Why don't they just have them during the game for these types of decisions. It wouldn't be too difficult to set up.

    • Maybe Damien Comolli will be able to review his decision to sign no proper replacements for Keane and Berbatov. When it's revealed that Tottenham are short of quality players they'll be able to start the season again, this time with suitable replacements.
