First photos of Tim Burton's take on Alice in Wonderland

In 2010 Tim Burton will take on the iconic Lewis Carroll story of 'Alice in Wonderland' and translate it to the silver screen in a way that only Tim Burton can. This, surely darker, take on the beloved classic has already brought in such actors and actresses as Johnny Depp to portray the Mad Hatter, Helena Bonham Carter to portray the Red Queen, Anne Hathaway to portray the White Queen, (Both queens a strange choice for 'Alice in Wonderland' considering they were not in the original book, they were in Lewis Carroll's sequel book 'Through the Looking Glass'.) Alan Rickman to portray the Caterpillar, Matt Lucas to portray Tweedledum and Tweedledee, and relative new comer Australian actress Mia Wasikowska to portray Alice.
Now, like many of Burton's films, security and secrecy are always priority number one to ensure nothing is given away but some sites were able to get their hands on some behind the scenes photos (Legally, ofcoarse).
To get a VERY minor sneak peek go to http://infdaily.fusebox.com/2008/09/our-first-look-at-tim-burtons-alice-in-wonde...
Now, for all the rest of you Burton enthusiasts other Tim Burton projects after 'Alice in Wonderland' include a remake of Burton's independent film 'Frankenweenie' (likely to be in stop motion like 'The Nightmare Before Christmas' and 'Corpse Bride') and a film based on the 1966 gothic soap opera 'Dark Shadows'.

This looks great. I'm very excited. And I collect stuff from Burton movies and I just know I'm going to get my hands on some super cool Alice stuff. Johnny Deep as the Mad Hatter. Maybe Danny Elfman music. Fantastic!

oh great - he'll make a morose mess out of this classic too, doing his best to convince the press that "Lewis Carroll had it all wrong" and how it was truly supposed to be done THIS way.
just look at what he did with poor Charlie and that Chocolate world.
ugh. shine a little light on.
I feel for Gene Wilder - he was also the Mock Turtle in 1999's TV adapation of Alice in Wonderland. This is what Wilder had to say about Burton's attempt at Wonka:
"It's all about money," Wilder told Contact Music. "It's just some people sitting around thinking, 'How can we make some more money?' Why else would you remake Willy Wonka? I don't see the point of going back and doing it all over again.
"I like Johnny Depp, and I appreciate that he has said on record that my shoes will be hard to fill. But I don't know how it will all turn out."

Some people like it.
Some people don't.
Some people are like old people and think the older version is better just because it was first.
Those people that are the latter need to think better.

I agree.
It just seems like Burton puts his gothic wash on popular stories to push merchandise at Hot Topic.I mean I love Big Fish, Edward Scissorhands, and Nightmare Before Xmas like most people. But can we stop pretending that he doesn't make his living selling Jack Skeleton hoodies and Corpse Bride coffee mugs?

I thought Charlie and the Chocolate Factory SUCKED, not because it was the "newer" version, but because it was kind of boring, too much Wonka back story and the lack of a cool tunnel scene disappointed the HELL out of me. I read the books when I was younger but no movie really ever compares to it's book counterpart (though fear and loathing did the best job I can think of!)

Oh, so it's a Burton film?
Will there be?Swirly things,
slanty houses,
dark color schemes,
very pale characters,
Johnny Depp,
His wife, Helena Bonham Carter,
Upbeat songs about murder, death, or violence,
A lead male character whose very skinny and tall,
Danny Elfman music?Oh, Yes? Wow, this is going to be great. I have no idea what to expect!

No, he's just good at playing disturbing characters, that's why he's in Tim Burton's films.

The book was dark, I believe, so this is going to be interesting.
Maybe it's a hybrid of the two books.
