Tennants replacement - the eleventh Doctor of the TV series - will be revealed in a Doctor Who Confidential programme on BBC One at 17:35 on 3 January 2009.
Ive set the PVR just in case I faint from the shock and have to rewind.

Why? Can't they be original and come up a with a female time traveler character rather than cannibalizing a well-established one?
This just smacks of pandering that if it were to go thru (I thought RTD was against a female doctor?) will probably be thought of as a dark forgettable period of Doctor Who.

Dr. Who did have a Time Lady named Romana who was a Junior Time Lord. By now she should be a full Time Lord. Had her own TARDIS and K9 robot as well. Broke off from the Tom Baker series. When Tom Baker was no longer Dr. Who he gave a speech and said good luck to the next Dr. Who whomever he or she may be. Which gave rumor to a female Dr. Who.
