MTV plan 'Generation Obama' reality shows

Just replace the M of MTV by something else already. You've lost your way, MTV.

The hell with MTV. They don't play music, the production value of their reality shows sucks and now they think they redeem themselves with an Obama hour?

That was MTV when it first started, and they seemed to have drifted away from why they were there in the first place.

They could be exposing people to badass music of every genre, from all over the country and the world - but, instead of improving our culture, they choose to rot it from the inside out with cheap, shallow, meaningless garbage like this.

MTV is run by people in there 50/60's now. Numbers are the only thing that they look at these days. Hell I am 29 and have not watched MTV in 13 years.

MTV should play music - otherwise they should change the name.

Maybe if they stopped doing shitty TV shows and started playing music videos again they would win back their core constituency.

Not so much an interesting idea as far as eMpTy-V goes. Here's a network that has always changed its programming on the regular. It's always been as fickle as its demographic.

There is nothing new they are doing; just re-hashing ideas that were already done, either on MTV or other channels. How about music videos!

When will we get to see the white house on MTV "Cribs"?

I'll wait to form an opinion until the shows come out. If history tells me anything, though, they'll suck too.

I really think that MTV should change their name to something else....nothing about that channel is "music television" anymore. I don't even remember the last time I watched anything on there.

16 more reasons to avoid that station. Not that they care.

Perhaps degradation and defamation are roles that have been better fulfilled by youtube.

Nonetheless, MTV seems to be moving in the right direction by trying to uplift and inspire the younger generation rather than glorifying materialism and excess.

and i dont think that its the "Bush years of reality tv" that sucked, the whole concept of "reality" tv is god awful.

Leave it to MTV to try an make more money from our generation. It would be interesting to see a so called "affirmation themed" reality show though, hell, I'll probably check it out.

Art and life are too intertwined to tease them apart now!
