The UK britpoppers The Charlatans have announced that they will be headlining this year's Isle of Wight Festival, but in a twist on normal festival line-ups, that they were allowed "complete control" over the bands that will warm up for them.

The Charlatans frontman, Tim Burgess said, "I have already approached quite a few impressive new bands (some you will know, some you might not). The Isle Of Wight festival is a special festival to me, so all up and coming bands, be on the look out – you could be taking the stage."

Acts already confirmed include recent returnees to form, The Prodigy, alongside Drum and Bass' mainstream soldiers, Pendulum as well as Basement Jaxx and The Ting Tings.

Not a bad lineup so far, but is putting so much control in the hands of the band who are headlining, really that much of a good idea? I mean what if they choose crappy bands?
