The 26th Annual ACSAP Awards marked my first red carpet event since the Streamys, and it was well worth the wait. Wednesday evening (4/22), the ceremony’s arrival line was graced by legendary artists, such as Quincy Jones, and a slew of pop sensations including Fergie, Colby O’ Donis, Natasha Bedingfield and Wyclef Jean.
While my favorite hustling publicists led the top songwriters and publishers of today through a salty sea of camera crews and reporters, I did all but throw myself in front of Miss Bedingfield. A featured performer of the night, the songstress was fully glammed out, rockin’ the glitter and extra lavish eyelashes captured in high definition by my trusty minoHD flip cam. We talked music. We talked fashion. And we talked CAUSE.
An active philanthropist, Bedingfield frequently donates her time and energy to Global Angels, an international children’s charity, founded by her mother, Molly Bedingfield. The star said her “mum” has touched the sky in her efforts to help kids around the world.
My night would not have been complete had I not met ASCAP Creative Voice Award winner, humanitarian, and my new favorite Tweeter, Wyclef Jean. The artist talked about his Yele Haiti foundation, which aims to rebuild and restore pride in his native country Haiti. He also shared his views on the Serve America Act, freshly signed by President Obama on April 21.
Speaking with celebrities who use their influence to help others feels good, and makes me feel like I’m doing what the universe has intended for me. If you have a cause, please know that people care, and some of them may care enough to make your cause their own. Case in point: Causecast.org. Join us!
Love!
