ok it's true that he makes good music but it's also true that he shouldn't be an icon. I mean he's an artist that made pop culture boom but that's it....Our icons use to be people like martin luther king jr. or ghandi...hell i'll even say jimi hendrix because he was not only a artist but had lots of good philisophical views. People don't even accept the fact that micheal has done some pretty fucked up things throughout his life that's definately not iconic.

For once i sort of agree with ol' Billy Boy. Stop the coverage please. The degradation of our media is sinking like the titanic and the consistent coverage of a simple man well....is not keeping it afloat.

Thousand of people flocked to LA to watch MJ memorial. And millions around the world mourned his death. Not an icon?
When Bill Oreilly dies (which will hopefully be soon) how many people other than Dick Cheney do you think will mourn him?

WHOA-really! When did we start deciding what is and isn't comedy or news or what have you? Comedy is pretty subjective in general and I'd really love to see anyone make a valid argument declaring Bill O'Reilly a serious journalist. If Bill O' the Clown isn't comedy incarnate wtf is?

O'Wrongly is an idiot savant. He's using the Jackson hype to build his own ratings while bashing the freshly-buried Jackson and the media using the same hype from the funeral. Fox hypocrisy at it's finest and Bill at his most ignorant.
I'm not the biggest Jackson fan/supporter, but at least I have enough tact to respect his death. Bill is just using this as another ratings booster, and that's pretty sick. Then again, it's what we've come to expect from both Bill and Fixed Noise to trample on the graves of the dead for ratings.

"Fox is the only network that tells it like it is ,,no bullshit lies!...what happened to real journalism?"
LOL, I'm removing this comment from my memory banks...if FOX and Bill O whatever is real journalism then we are definitely doomed...3..2..1 DELETED!!
Michael Jackson may have had issues, but they are honoring him for his contribution to the music and music video world that cannot be ignored. I would choose MJ (with his crazy ass) over FOX anyday

Bill O'Reilly is just jealous because he knows that when he dies that he will only be remembered by a couple of bloggers trash talking his raggedy ass show on current. Michael Jackson was who he was. Nothing more - Nothing less. The media will do what the media has always done. In Bills own words "A cowardly media will exploit any event for ratings." On the other hand an extremely cowardly media, like Bill O on Fox, will exploit an event for ratings while trash talking other media outlets for doing the same. He may have made some valid points but he does it in such a condescending and pompous manner that I cannot even give him credit for them.

I only agree with his media points... but in my opinion, everyone is a Michael Jackson fan even if you say you're not. Why? Well, because each and everyone of you knows all or part of his Thriller dance moves, you've all attempted and still do the moon walk to try and impress people, even if you can't dance you will do something from Michael Jackson when his song is playing, if asked to name one song from Michael Jackson you would know one (most likely; Smooth Criminal, Beat it, Thriller, and Bad)....

You know what ,,It is really ironic how the African American public seem to have forgotten that Michael Jackson did everything possible to remove his Blackness from his exterior shell. Did he turn his back on his real idenity because that is what he felt his public wanted ? Or was it what he wanted ? Only Michael Jackson knew that ,or did he ? I surely hope the African American public will have a better candidate than Michael Jackson to represent the honor of being black in America than Mr. Jackson. As far as Bill O Riley and Fox goes ,,they are, after all fair and balanced ...Not many others are any more,, and why the hell not? Wake up people ! for the sake of America ..Fox is the only network that tells it like it is ,,no bullshit lies!...what happened to real journalism?

firstly, michael jackson has a skin disorder that removes pigment from his skin. Called lupus, and it creates blotches of unpigmented skin; thus he took it upon himself to fully unpigment his skin.

Bill talks the truth, but its so funny because its about himself. He mentions the "cowardly" American media spinning stories (like the mj story) for profit as if he does not do the same thing.
This guy thinks too highly of himself, someone inflict the reality upon him.

Bill O'Reilly is without a doubt an arrogant carnival barker that usually shouts down his opposition rather than making logical points.
However, in this case he is actually dead on.
While it is indisputable that Michael Jackson is an icon for his music, Michael Jackson the man was an absolute train wreck of a person.
In death he is being deified in a way that completely ignores his pedophilia, he bizarre obsession with. changing his race and appearance. The same media that created his superstardom helped destroy him, which is a tragedy, but people should not separate the man's music from his actions in life. Simply because he was a legendary entertainer should not give him a free pass on his actions off the stage.
He made legendary music, but as a person, is not worth being remembered positively.

Best thing to do is just to ignore Bill. He'll only keep pushing his views on the matter further to keep the ratings up by annoying the MJ fans.
The debate about MJ's iconship was likely to happen at some point, but to start it near the date of the funeral is vile. - 2 years ago

As an icon MJ, unfortunately, represents the decadence and selfishness that pervades United States culture. I hope this hero worship is for his contribution to music and not for his behavior.

Why was he an icon? Because of his obscene wealth and love of materialism? Because he was a pedophile? (Perversion in various forms seems to be quite popular nowadays!) Compare him to another "icon"- Farrah Fawcett. Where is the 24/7 coverage for her? There isn't any. Her coverage lasted for no more than a day after her death. Why? Easy! She was (GASP!!) a Catholic. Yep. Thusly, she was all but ignored by the media after death. She had a Mass of Christian Burial in (GASP!) a Catholic church! MJ had the socially accepted "non-denominational" generic service. That shows how messed up our country is.

I hear ya. I will say I am a spiritual criminal as I do identify with Zoroastrianism and other spiritual modalities that use cannabis in there ceremonies and traditions. The Constitution should protect me but We The People have lost the fight? Another thing these MJ worshipers have lost as well as many others is there minds, literally. All of this to me really proves the 'dumbing down of america' agenda discussed by people such as Charlotte Iserbyt-

If Micheal Jordan and Toni Kukoc died in the same week, who would get more media coverage?
The media coverage has nothing to do with Farrah Faucet being a catholic, and everything to do with Jackson being a much bigger star. And Farrah Faucet's had cancer, her death wasn't sudden and unexpected like Jacksons.
Are you really as ignorant as your comment implies or just trying to stir up sympathy Catholics?

not saying that hes right or that i agree with him bu the dictionary defines an icon as:
icon |ˈīˌkän|
noun
a painting of Jesus Christ or another holy figure, typically in a traditional style on wood, venerated and used as an aid to devotion in the Byzantine and other Eastern Churches.
• a person or thing regarded as a representative symbol of something : this iron-jawed icon of American manhood.
• Computing a symbol or graphic representation on a video display terminal of a program, option, or window, esp. one of several for selection.
• Linguistics a sign whose form directly reflects the thing it signifies, for example, the word snarl pronounced in a snarling way.
ORIGIN mid 16th cent. (in the sense [simile] ): via Latin from Greek eikōn ‘likeness, image.’ Current senses date from the mid 19th cent. onward.Im not sure how MJ fits into any of these definitions..!?

What is everybody talking about? Bill-o the Clown as well as everyone else on the Fox Comedy Network are doing a great job.
