Celebrity "spam" on Current

Hey All!

Has anyone else noticed the spam of "look at X Celeb wearing X item" on current laterly?
personally im kind of annoyed that current has allowed users to spam crap about celebrities all day,

right now in the news feed i can see 4 of the top 10 articles been about celebrities, and to be honest im kind of annoyed that current is becoming a womans gossip website :/

-Charlize Theron Lil’ Cameltoe leaving the gym in West Hol...
-Miley Cyrus See Through Top
-Kristen Stewart In A See Through Dress
-Top 10 Celebrity Babes with Mouth Watering Cleavages

for the record miley cyrus is a underage 16 year old girl right? so isnt that kind of creepy to post?here look at a underage girls see through top.... i mean considering in other articles we are discussing the popes problem with little children isnt it hypocritical to allow postings about underage girls in revealing clothes?

when we have real news articles like these:

-Giant Ash Cloud Grounds London Flights
-We're living in broken Britain, say most voters

the spam is taking away space where real news should be.

i dont care what overpaid bimbo is wearing a bikini today, if i want to see that ive got google images ha

i come to current for REAL news. can we keep it that way?

    • Hi Phoenix234 (and everyone else),

Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts with us. This sort of feedback is really useful and we love getting constructive criticism if it means we can improve the site and make it a better place to spend time.

We're looking into the pesky spam issue in the entertainment channel and we're working on making it a better section.

In the meantime, green vote (click the green up arrow) and stories you do like or comment on them and they've got a greater chance of making it into the most popular chart, pushing out the kind of stories you don't like.

      Thanks,
      Rich

    • right on!
This website used to be much more political, this seems a rather recent phenomenon that should be kept far far away from the real news.

    • hey phoenix234, i think you are confusing the "most popular" list with a news feed. drizake is right, just ignore that. the people at current cant stop someone from posting about girls in bikinis. nor can they stop people from clicking on those stories.

just go to the news and politics section if that is what you are interested in.

its under the "top ranked" list which i normally used to find interesting stories
when 4 our of 6 stories are perverted it kinda annoys me.

im interested in all news. but i dont class celeb gossip and pictures as news.

current moderators have the power to ban and delete users, and the ablity to send messages.
meaning they could easily warn a user against spamming things like that or delete the articles in the first place.

      ye im from the UK
      :)
its not just news and politics im interested in though, i like looking at all different kinds of news without having to look at what celeb is wearing a dress today :/

      the unintelligent discuss people
the evolving man discusses events and news
while the genius talks about new ideas.

excuse my spelling errors, im in a rush.

Yeah, it seemed there was a lot of it today, from one person it seemed. I thought they were a bot at first, until they replied to some criticism...still, I don't think they grasped what current was really about.
