BRITS BANK ON EXTRA HOLIDAY NOT ROYAL WEDDING
source: http://Zoosk.co.uk
London, UK, 4th April, 2011 – Two thirds of Brits are more interested in the extra Bank Holiday (66%) than the Royal Wedding (33%) according to research from the world’s largest social dating community, Zoosk.co.uk.
The 29th of April will see 40% of Brits out enjoying the Bank Holiday while only 31% will be watching the Royal Wedding on TV. A further 21% of those surveyed will be hiding under the duvet, hoping the day would just go away. There will be more women watching the wedding then men and only 3% of UK singles will be heading to London to catch the cavalcade.
When it comes to Will versus Harry, Zoosk’s single ladies don’t appear to mind. It seems a prince is a prince - with each receiving roughly 43% of the votes for most date-worthy royal. Peter Phillips comes in a very-distant third, with just 8% of the ladies’ votes. Meanwhile, there’s just one clear winner with the gents: Zara Philips is the favourite single Royal of 2011, with two thirds (63%) of Zoosk’s single blokes choosing her as the royal they’d most like to date. Princess Beatrice and Eugenie hardly compare, with 15% and 10% of votes (respectively).
Although the couple have invited over 1,900 guests, 27% of the men in Zoosk’s social community felt the wedding wouldn’t be complete without an appearance from Lady Gaga. Single ladies, on the other hand, preferred X Factor mogul, Simon Cowell with 35% of their votes for ultimate wedding guest. The ladies’ second choice is Gaga with 27%. Unfortunately, single lady Jordan came second from the bottom in the poll, with just 11% voting her as their ultimate wedding guest. However, one in six people wouldn’t mind inviting her fellow jungle star Shaun Ryder attending their special day.
When it comes to the first Royal dance, 38% of female Zooskers voted for Westlife’s ‘Queen of my Heart’, while the Zoosk men were less romantic with nearly a quarter (22%) opting for punk classic, ‘God Save the Queen’ by The Sex Pistols. Interestingly, Abba’s ‘Dancing Queen’ achieved almost a quarter (20%) of male votes. The ladies of the Zoosk community placed Sir Elton John’s show tune, ‘I just can’t wait to be King’ from The Lion King as their second option (17%).
“Weddings and the ensuing celebration are always a great opportunity to meet new people in a fun environment,” said Shayan Zadeh, Zoosk’s co-founder and co-CEO. “While more Brits have chosen to enjoy the Bank Holiday rather than celebrating the Royal Wedding, the 29th of April will provide a great opportunity for singles to get out or online, flirt and have fun at the countless social events they have to choose from during the long holiday.”
