Wilco Vs. Elton John in a Red State

Kansas City welcomed the new Sprint Arena with the theatrics of Elton John, while Wilco performed across town on Saturday October 13. Fresh off not attending his own tribute in Carnegie Hall in NYC several nights before, Elton John christened the new KC arena in Fab fashion to a crowd of eager fans. In the older, more established Crossroads District, it has been difficult to get many to remember how the Wilco show went. Bets are that fans leaving Wilco had more money, healthier smiles and a delightful blue state of mind.

    • Kansas City has always had a great music scene, so this doesn't surprise me. But as the article says, this is more than great music--it's a way for city officials to lure an NBA team to the area.
