    • I can't believe people are still arguing that cigarettes are useful as a remedy for anything. As a former smoker, I can attest that physically speaking, smoking caused far more pain than anything else I've ever done in my life.

    • self harming addictions brought on by the the ones ruling, the ones we have kept comfortable all these years and the ones that are to blame! Stop making cigarettes completely!! (smoker wanting to be an ex-smoker).

    • Joe. Another great piece!

"Are smokers amongst the most discriminated people in America right now?"

I love your ability to ask these RIDICULOUS questions with a sincere disposition, so the person you are interviewing has no idea, and in return feels safe and supported enough to respond honestly, exposing their idiocy.

    • best one so far, mega-kudos to binowhite

smoking is like diet-pills: smoke and wanna eat less (diet pills just make me want to ingest more)
the real issue------->> which is worse? obesity or cancer/lung-heart probs. 1. If it is obesity, smoking is health-promotion
      2. If it is cancer/lung-heart disease, then smoking and cellphones and other extra MicroWaves need to be banned.
Since I am AMERICA along with you, let's decide to cook meals on stove, eat with family, use "land-line", and join a gym or at least one work-out partner. Having a smoke can come later, over Tea (w/o cookies).

    • Yes smokers have rights, as do those who choose not to smoke. I have a right to be able to breathe when I walk down the street. They (smokers) have a right to kill themselves. Creating designated smoking areas might make the smokers happy...but it''s just like giving heroin addicts a certain place to shoot up.
I''m happy to be living in a smoke free state, where I won?t have to choke every time I walk outside.

Yeah I haven't been smoking cigarettes very long at all but I wish I had never started. It's horrible for you and just a hassle. Marijuana should be legalized if something as destructive as cigs are sold everywhere. Power to those who want to quit. I suppose I'll start trying to someday.

    • I have an issue with some aspects of the smoking bans.

Ban smoking in public places, sure. You shouldn't have to sit next to a person smoking a cigarette at a bus stop, on a crowed sidewalk, on a train, and so on.

However, telling the owner of a private business that he or she can't CHOOSE what legal substances can be consumed in their establishment is nonsense. If you want to cater to smokers, there shouldn't be anything illegal about that.

I'm against anyone telling anyone what to do in their own private places...including businesses. You walk into a bar, and they allow smoking, and you hate smoke? Go to a different bar.

I'm a occasional smoker. I know it can and quite possibly will kill me. So will any NUMBER of other things I choose to do because I enjoy them. People going out of there way to tell me that what I'm doing to my own body is dangerous and wrong and disgusting is beyond irritating. I don't need to be saved from my bad habits. And I'll do you the favor of not trying to save you from yours.

    • I am a smoker, although, i totally support the idea of banning indoor smoking. Because it is indeed dangerous, we all know this.
Smoking is pretty much a choice you make.
You can do it if you want to, and if you don't want to, don't.
But if you are going to do it, at least know the consequences to it.
I'm a smoker, but i know the consequences to it.

    • Another great one from Joe. I think the crazy lady in had one true point - The government agencies are using these smoking bans as a wat to get more money have more pwer and gain more control.

I quit smoking a long time ago. The truth is that cigarette smoke is cancerous, dirty, stinky and nasty. The smell lingers forever..
