Jay Van Buren is a Brooklyn-based artist who paints portraits. Too boring and traditional, you say? But these are no ordinary portraits -- the subjects are Furries, a rich and complex subculture of people who dress in animal suits. Van Buren uses his artistry to get inside his subjects' furry heads.

    • this is really well done and an accurate representation of the project- just one correction: the name of the furry that first gave me advice on how to get started talking to the fandom was called "foxwolfie galen"- I emailed him and he wrote back with a lot of good info that started me on my way. A post on a message board he recommended got me in touch with Rapid T Rabbit who was the first to sit for his portrait.
