    • Unfortunately, these high gas prices only hurt the middle class (what's left of them) and the poor in America...the wealthy just regroup their investments and buy another gas guzzling vehicle to park in the driveway of their third or fourth house, while the rest of the citizenry are still reeling from the effects of unbridled greed on the housing market.

Does anyone think Bush has noticed that the price of milk, eggs and bread has nearly tripled in the grocery store? Yeah, like he ever shopped for groceries. Al_St8te is right about that pathetic economic incentive check too...like this is going to have any kind of impact on what Bush & company have done not only to the US, but to the world.

      Different kind of genocide....that's all.

    • Over here in the UK it is over $9 a gallon and we've been used to expensive petrol for many years now. Guess what? we all appear to drive much smaller cars and don't design our cities and towns so that you have to get in a car for every trip you make. You guys in the states use more energy per head than anyone in the world. You've been enjoying feasting too long - time to pull back from the table a bit, see how fat you've become and think about a diet.

When I see the size of your average cars over there it really is shocking. We only have a small amount of that precious stuff you want for a couple of bucks a gallon and we'll have burnt up our entire supply that took millions of years to create within a few decades at this rate. This is all without mentioning the dangers to the environment. Now you have my sympathy that the new expense is starting to hurt your pocket but in the bigger picture I think it will be a good thing. Get yourself a smaller car, use public transport, get a bike and take some steps to not being the worlds biggest comsumer of everything.
