If positive effort is irrelevant then resistance is futile isn't it?
That kind of cynicism only leads to nihilism and the problem still remains unsolved

Irrelevant. They wouldn't be able to survive the lawsuits, red-tape, and tabloid scrutiny.

That depends on if you want to use the standard superhero definition of "Truth, Justice and the American Way" which is based on ethnocentric principles that what's best for America is the best way for everyone.
Or did you want a more Integral Standard that would be more equitable because it includes all points of view in a worldcentric perspective?
Would a Superhero be "Beyond Good and Evil" because they had evolved from past conceptions and stereotypes that were placed on them? That depends on if their mental development matched their superior physical prowess.
Would it make a difference if there was an image of Dr. Strange there instead of Superman?

No it wouldn't unite us, but it would make it easier to tell who the SuperVillans were right?
