Mount Shasta Brewing Co. brewer Vaune Dillman bottles his beer with caps labeled "Try Legal Weed."
He said he's promoting his beer and the town where he brews them. Federal alcohol regulators said he's urging consumers to support an illegal drug.
Dillman faces possible sanctions or fines. He's appealing the decision with help from civic leaders in the town named after its founding father, Abner Weed.

Alcohol is considered a hard drug, it has the risk for physical dependence/addiction whereas cannabis is a soft drug. So Dillman may or may not being promoting illegal drug use, but the federal alcohol regulators are the ones promoting use of a much more dangerous, legal drug. Some one needs to get their priorities straight.

I see absolutely nothing wrong in naming the beer whatever this man wants. It's just a name.

It's pretty obvious that the TTB is overstepping thier bounds on this one. It's a clever marketing ploy and not much else.

Oh the irony! Beer and hemp are actually distant cousins. According to beerandhealth.com, “the hop (Humulus lupulus L.) is a dioecious plant of the family Cannab(in) aceae, to which hemp (Cannabis sativa L.) also belongs.”

I've been to Weed, California a few times. May I suggest the Black Bear Diner, instead of Campos Mexican food. The latter is a bit overpriced.

This sounds like the same dilemma James Kirby was in about his Cocaine Energy Drink! I found a six pack of this fireball sensation on ebay for about $24.00 (shipping included)
I think that when people try to use legal substances and throw an illegal name on it, especially anything to do with weed...then it takes a litte piece out of what marijuana advocates have worked so hard for. Marijuana will be legal one day... we just have to wait it out. But, this is a freedom of speech issue and he should be able to put whatever he wants on his bottles of beer. Here's the link to the interview with James Kirby with Jon Stewart on The Daily Show ...........

That is just a witty play of words, there is no way the gov. can even get involved in that. They are using creativity to crate a tagline that promotes their product in a smart and humorous way.
