this is really late but anyway i have to say, sorry to all of those who loved it but, it wasn't the best movie i've seen. now, heath ledger was beyond outstanding and honestly he stole the show. christian bale's voice did sound like a monster. i think that i didn't like dark knight as much 1) because i didn't see the first one..or read the comic, 2) it was too long, and 3) i've seen all of those effects before (the explosions, etc., etc.)..i must say though the very beginning of the movie was awesome, and the pencil scene, and i just wish the rest of the movie had lived up to all of the hype.

Maybe they should have saved two face for a future film, but the fact that it lead to the line, "a hero is what ever gotham needs it to be" so the fact that yea he takes the blame for the cop deaths, but the fact that it saves the city in so many ways. Script writing nothing short of magical.
Enough said on the acting, I agree.

I have to admit heath ledger's performance in this movie was sensational, I heard that the butler said that if he doesn't get the oscar he wont play in any other batman movies. But one thing i did not like was two face, he looked to computer animated in my opinion

Overrated and boring. The people that review these films are such tools find some people that have difference in opinions please. Yawn. Nolan knows how to write a screenplay as well as the writers of Charmed. If Ledger had not died after filming filming Terry Gillian's new movie people would have just seen this as another batman movie and possibly even ripped it apart instead of making it "the best movie ever" Memento and "Prestige" were OK at best. "Get over it already"! This movie was no "Fight Club"!

Great movie... It's amazing how much better these movies are on every level from the Batman movies from the early 90's.... It's rendered the old Batmans unwatchable to me.....
Right on about Heath Ledger... When I first heard the buzz about how good he was I suspected it might be a little exaggerated due to his unfortunate passign... But you believe the joker could be real when you watch him...

Awesome. The story...the twists. The grim vision of a modern Gotham.... Heath Ledger was chilling, sick and brilliant. Nolan, totally on fire in the directors chair.. and we haven't even got to Bale, Caine, and Freeman.
Remember- this after all, is a comic book/superhereo movie. BUT about 100 times better than anything thats come before it. I want to see it again. Awesome. - 4 years ago

Just saw it last night and thought it was fantastic - though two people who came with me thought it was boring and too long. I think it was probably quite a boy's film - not great on the feminist front (or racial profiling, for that matter), but nonetheless.. Heath Ledger? Stunning.

Everything and everyone in this movie is incredible. I believe that most people who see this movie will agree that Heath Ledger's portrayal of the joker is without a doubt some of the finest acting of our time. The only thing I can compare it to is Jack Nicholson in the shining and like Nicholson's performance it will probably be a "yardstick" to be measured by from time to time by actors in the future and rightfully so. It is a shame that Heath will not get to enjoy the success of such an incredible piece of work. He is and will continue to be sorely missed by movie makers and fans of the craft for some time to come. To Heath, thank you and may you rest in peace.

In the words of Heath Ledger's amazingly portrayed Joker: "Why so serious?" Honestly, the film was good; it did, indeed, transcend the comic-movie genre into amazingly high-caliber movie territory via Chris Nolan's beautiful choreography. But people are talking it up as if it were the best thing since sliced bread. In my humble opinion, The Dark Knight's, for once, validates the ridiculously high price of modern movie tickets, which is an amazing feat in itself. Nothing more, nothing less.

I thought that the acting was very good all around, though Heath Ledger's performance was superb. Had I not known who the cast was ahead of time, I would not have believed that the Joker was played by Ledger.
The plot was well thought out, and was quite capable of keeping you watching in suspense if it was your first time watching.
The only flaw of the movie that I could point out is that it was over two and a half hours long. Part of the draw of the movie is that it is an adrenaline movie. And though I can't think of any way that the movie could have been edited and retained it's greatness, it does seem to loose a bit of it's appeal by the end.
Overall, one of the best, if not the best movie of the year so far. Definitely recommended.

It's not wrong to have more than one villain. Maybe the way that it's handled could be better, but more than one villain isn't a problem. There are lots of movies that have that and do just fine, I'm sure in your opinion as well. Such as X-Men had more than one, but maybe you didn't like those. =P

Hahaha....indy film.
I thought it was pretty darn good. The whole lick lipping thing was giving me chapped lips.
I only have one slight against this film and it was...well two...it wasn't Marvel and Gotham City was too bland to be Gotham City. In DC it's one of the major cities and it just doesn't look major it looks so bland. I would have liked to see things that made me go..whoa that's Gotham instead of wow that's Chicago but Gotham because of that there sign.
No doubt one of the better films this year. Being number one on IMBD should make them excited and 100,000+ have voted.
As I always like to state Batman is Bruce Wayne and Bruce is his second identity. Bruce is the cover for Batman not the other way around as in people would be more shocked that Batman is Bruce Wayne than Bruce Wayne is Batman.
Like Superman. He is Clark Kent and Superman is his alter ego. I know it sounds backwards but I'm sure someone totally gets what I'm stating.
As for the Oscar, I'd be glad if he were nominated but he's dead and as was stated in a couple of Movie articles the Academy doesn't give "hugs" to dead people. They like to congratulate those that are alive more so than dead. I would think that, based on what I've read, Heath would want it that way...to give it to someone who was alive and could enjoy it than giving it to him who cannot.
I would like to see it nominated for Best Picture. Now that would be a first.

you have it backwards with Superman. Clark Kent is the alter ego.

I think the movie would have been bumped to classic level if they'd shaved off about twenty minutes (namely the whole entire trip to Hong Kong for the sake of IMAX, as it did nothing but distract from the actual plot, which was already weighted down by general vagueness and a huge character roster).
The plot in general could have been much crisper.I was hoping for a smidgen more action and a smidgen more Joker (because Ledger did indeed dish out a f*ckin awesome performance).
But definitely a must-see, and definitely the best movie I've seen in the theaters in a good long while.
Very well written/ acted, and the scenes with Batman and the Joker, both the action and the dialogue, are grade A classic material.Perhaps I'd have been even more than greatly impressed if the great grand boner of media hype hadn't been beating me over the head for weeks...

Not enough action. CGI on Two-Face was lame. The Joker in a nurse's outfit? Not dark to me. Bruce Wayne- "blah, blah, blah.." Alfred- "blah, blah, blah..." Last hour of the movie, a waste. Whatever happened to the laughing gas? Scarecrow in, and scarecrow out? Bottom line, not enough action, or violence to be called "The Dark Knight". "Batman Begins" was much better. Thank you.

WHERE THE HELL ARE THE BATFANS WHO DIDN'T LIKE THIS MOVIE,... OR DON'T EVEN WANT TO SEE IT?!!? Hopefully I never have to watch this film,... and I'm a BIG Batfan! Woah woah Zack- ease up. Agree that this movie in just intense from start to finish. My favorite thing about Batman is that he is a crazy person who just happens to fight on our side. The Joker is the same just on the evil side of things. They compliment each other so well and Bale and Ledger were mindblowing with one another. OK let me say great profile pic.
The movie was amazing man. C'mon, the movie had every right to have fallen in love with itself. The movie is about as close to perfect as you can get. It does what a lot of these production companies and studios fail to do: TRUST YOUR DIRECTOR. If you hired him trust yourself and let the man make a movie.
And Nolan delivered the gem of comic book movies. He had passion for it and it comes across in ever frame and in every performance. Bale, Ledger, Oldman they all respect Nolan and the love he has for this product.
When you see the effort payoff like it does. It makes you question all of the good material that has been ruined by directors just taking the paycheck.
Too bad you didn't dig it, check it out in Imax man, and remember it is not trying to be the Godfather, it's a comic book movie.
Thank you for tuning in though Zack, happy you dig the reviews.

Dude, are you kidding me? How can you sh!t on this movie? It is (to quote the reviewer) a masterpiece. Looking at your pic, maybe you should go on watching Saved By The Bell and leave the quality to the grown ups.

I felt like I was six years old again. It was that same feel as watching the original Star Wars trilogy. It has that old school magic that has been missing for a while. I am very happy this movie came out. Cinema needed it.

I really hope Heath gets nominated for an Oscar... not cuz he's dead but because his performance was incredible.... As a comic book fan my whole life, (I learned to draw from comic books), I am so glad they are finally doing justice to the characters in films....

The Academy doesn't like to "hug" dead people. They like to reward people they can congratulate. You can't do that with dead people.
And Heath would rather someone who was alive have the award. I base that on the quotes I found in the Biographical book. I should get it...from what I read it was really good.

Amazing! I have never seen a movie truly live up to the hype. Heath Ledger's performance is going to blow everyone away. Christopher Nolan made a masterpiece. Go watch it! 10 out of 10!
