Dave Letterman usually has a good sense of humor until you decide to miss his show and give him little notice. See how Dave's reacted to Senator John McCains decision to miss the show.

    • they may be one sided but all but Obermann are comedians unlike the talking heads at FoxNoise or Chris Matthews or the Drudge etc. Oh, you forgot to mention them, their one side stand. Letterman has always shown McSame respect as had Stewart and Obermann. McSame lied to Dave and he got what he deserved for being a liar. Hurts when your side is caught in a lie and finally called out for it. If either side were fair and balanced McSame would not be a candidate and no newsperson with a ounce of common sense would let SarahMcbullet pass without scrutiny.

    • Letterman has done little to hide his distain for the Republican party and goes out of his way to play up to the Democratic party as does Obermann who was with Letterman in the segment shown.

There is very little entertainment value in Politics and while politics makes for great comedy, it does little for talk shows.

Jon Stewart is just as liberal as Letterman but even while interviewing is much more professional than Letterman. Colbert on the other hand is an equal opportunity offender as he is more about publicizing himself than pandering to the right or the left.

    • And how exactly did "suspending the campaign" help him deal with the financial crisis? Glad Letterman called it like he saw it. I Wonder is it would've been better for McCain to have actually gone on the show, or if he'd come out looking just as big of a tool

    • when John and I get to Washington, we're gonna change things. Yes we are. Yep. Change. That's what we're going to do.
I can't wait. It's gonna be great. John , he was locked in a cage for six years. So you know he's ready to be President. And God Forbid, something should happen to John. I'm ready to step-in. Now that I have a passport. No problem. Yeah. I've raised five kids. Thought-up some really cool names. So you know we're in touch. It's really going to be cool.

    • Obama supporters are not desperate. Our man did not hire a professional make up artist to appear with Katie. Our man does not change his position within hours. Our man did not chose a running mate with is exorcised of demons. Our man does not say one thing and forget he said it, then denies he ever did. McSame is running scared you can tell by his actions. If his running mate was capable to take over should something happen to him, then why does he keep her from the press? Desperate I think not.

    • Does anyone else think this move is a bailout on the debate? This guy is slicker than grease. No one should vote for anyone who we can;t access. And to try to use the failing economy as a scapegoat. It's really insulting. However I feel that his whole campaign as been an insult.

    • Keith Obermann what a loser.
What did he say on ESPN "Bartender (I'm am) Jack A#$"
It's really sad that he has his failling hate show on the the Obama cable tv network and doesn't have the nuts to have even one guest that doesn't agree with him. Really who gives the counter points? Rachel MadCoW

    • Letterman does comedy. I though he was very funny, even though I support McCain.

People who take this seriously do not understand Letterman. Nothing Letterman says is serious, this is why after 9/11/01 he suspended his show.

I guess Obama supports are desperate, and clinging to anything.

    • Its so funny yet at the same time so unfortunate that McCain would do such a thing. Not a right move for the campaign in my opinion. Obama said it right when he said its important to find a balance between the campaign and the responsibilities as a Senator in dealing with this financial crisis.
