Suzette Charles, real name Suzette De Gaetano, was the first italo-african american girl to win Miss America in 1984. Actually, that year the winner was Vanessa Williams, but she was eliminated for a scandal. So,Suzette Charles' reign lasted only seven weeks. She was also the second african american to win Miss America.
