Palin's Tax Return Missing Travel Reimbursements

Image

Vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin didn't report thousands of dollars in state travel reimbursements that she collected while living at home last year, according to her tax return for 2007.

As governor of Alaska, Palin collected per diems for scores of nights spent in her own home and working at a state office in Anchorage rather her office in faraway Juneau, the state capitol. The patterns varied, but the state paid her, on average, $890 a month, according to The Washington Post, which first reported the payments.

Although Palin and her husband paid 20 percent of their income in taxes last year, the per diems don't appear on their 2007 tax return.

The McCain-Palin campaign, which released her 2006 and 2007 returns, said Palin was in compliance with state policies and the reimbursements weren't taxable income.

Critics insist the reimbursements are taxable income because the Anchorage office is just 45 miles away from her home. Under IRS rules, that could be considered just commuting.

Palin spent less time in the Juneau office, but didn't claim per diems when she was there.

The tax return also shows that the Palins didn't make the optional $3 contribution for presidential public financing, the fund that is financing the McCain-Palin campaign.

      Found_Avenue,

With the unwitting help of barnburners like Echoz Obama will serve 2 terms and the GOP will stay wedged in the political toilet.

While doing their utmost to trash others extremist GOP supporters inadvertently taint the GOP merely by association. I think the GOP support numbers across America reveal exactly that. Obama's numbers do not reflect the slightest confidence in the GOP as an alternative.

As to Palin? This from the Anchorage Daily News -

"Palin billed the state for 312 nights spent in her Wasilla home during her first 19 months in office, according to the Washington Post. She received $60 a day tax free, money intended to cover meals and incidentals, while traveling on state business, her travel forms show."

With friends like Echoz lauding the financial acumen of 'leadership' candidates like Palin, it's likely Palin will not be asked to rerun for the Presidency.

If anyone does want her it will likely be Wall Street or the banks, both of which we also heavily subsidize to the detriment of us all.

What makes you think I flagged you?

Get used to it sport. There are all kinds of people on line who won't put up with your abuse.

Did you lose control again and say something wrong?

=D how hilariously telling your mere response is. tell me, do you always answer to "feeble-minded", or was it just the "criminal" invitation to cry that's cripplingly irresistible you? =D Actually, you'll find, I didn't address you particularly, but then I'm sincerely not very sorry you felt so deservingly singled out by your very own rather obvious implicit admission =D

I'll be nice and just ask that you do your best to make sure you get your taxes right as we might have a lot of socialism AND war to pay for now... but maybe you can be a sport and cry on somebody else's shoulder about it, cuz my offer no longer stands. I've got enough to be more genuinely concerned about without worrying about your alleged "control" issues =) and be assured, I'm not missing a thing =D LOL

    • echoz,

that's an awful rickety fence you're perched on.

..."she doesn't walk on water" you say? Millions will be trembling and amazed.

And somehow you understand that people you've never met have "fudged returns"? You do a lot of astral travel espionage, do you?

"some of you wanna catapult him to the presidency just because he tickles a sentimental feeling in you."

Ah, no. Try harder. Guess again. Almost all of us recognize and respect brains and talent and a proven track record of working up through the system based on brainpower. Odd, you didn't think of that as a basis for promotion...

"To hear people say, "well, he's been a community organizer..." is so much more "disgusting" (I guess) to me."

And you are - what - in comparison?

"I wouldn't go so far to say that McCain is the answer, but Obama's no cream puff either, if you're really honest."

Are you here to talk about the Presidency or compare farts to pastries?

"neither one is the golden Messiah come on clouds, that's for sure."

    • so she doesn't walk on water...*shrug*... I honestly wonder if you run for the vice presidency what a mockery these political pundits would make of your own fudged returns, AND your personal lives.

it's on record that Obama only has like 147 days actual career experience in the senate. Not even a year! Freakn outrageous, if you ask me. And some of you wanna catapult him to the presidency just because he tickles a sentimental feeling in you. To hear people say, "well, he's been a community organizer..." is so much more "disgusting" (I guess) to me.

Kinda like sending a kindergartener to run a major college isn't it, even if he's ahead of his grade. pfff...

We keep lowering our standards simply to keep up appearances it seems to me. You want "change" so bad, you'll get it. I wouldn't go so far to say that McCain is the answer, but Obama's no cream puff either, if you're really honest. What's more dangerous? I don't really know, but he's neither one is the golden Messiah come on clouds, that's for sure.

      Buddy_P,

      echoz is a Palin-drone.

Now the last thing you can tell a Biblical "expert" Palin-drone is that

      Jesus didn't pack a side-arm,
      didn't refuse help to anyone,
didn't see any sense in War,
      didn't propose invading other nations,
didn't propose stealing the resources of others,
didn't preach hate, racism or sexism,
      wasn't violent, wasn't a drunk,
tossed the moneychangers out of the temple,
      taught tolerance and co-operation,

and a whole lot more that modern neo-christians cannot begin to fathom already was the basis of their religion for 2000 years.

I doubt that Jesus would think the people who abuse his name got The Message - conversely Adolf Hitler and Josip Stalin would have no trouble recognizing their own disciples marching through the streets preaching hate..

and neither is Obama the Messiah or God Himself, I'm sorry to inform you, though I know you might love to assume that tangibility as though it was something you could honestly take for granted.

bow down and worship the mofo if you want...ALL you want, but don't get pissed if I tell you his shit still stinks. Wipe his ass and see for yourself... Hell, Palin too... but to offer it scandalously that Palin didn't pay her $3 public financing is knitpicky as hell. Did you pay into public financing??? I sure as hell haven't! Besides, Obama himself is the one who backed out on that AFTER he'd already agreed to it...*shrug* Bet we'll see more promises and yet more renegging...tsk tsk tsk... hate to be the realist, as regards your Obama, but Jesus, imho, was a lot more than a "community organizer" Obama hasn't worn a crown of thorns and been whipped mercilessly, nor been stripped and humiliated, nor crucified unto death, without hardly a word, truly like a lamb for slaughter. And nor is Obama risen from the dead, by any honest testimony. Obama is a far cry from Jesus, just like the rest of us, including Palin.

And I'll strike for one more clear but important distinction...technically, Palin isn't running for President, even if she fudged on a tax return which even you KNOW is more common than you'll admit here, if you've ever done people's taxes, that is. Begs the question, who's the real hypocrit here? Palin is really no different from the vast majority of Americans, so I see. You may not like her, but petty criticisms like this are...well, petty =) I'm sure most people see that even if you mean well...for Obama. *shrug*

    • This is disgusting. First she rips off the taxpayers collecting money for staying in her own home. I guess the Wasilla hillbilly is more like Chaney than we thought.

Then she treats this just like paying to stay in a hotel where she in fact does not get actual income.

In her case the taxpayers of Alaska should be hopping mad that she is skirting the law and certainly breaking the spirit of the law.

Palin talks out of both sides of her mouth. She is just another hypocrite. Her only difference is that she is a stupid woman with amoral crafty advisers.
