Mushrooms the Biblical "Manna"?

Image

Exodus 16:14-24 indicates that MANNA was definitely a MUSHROOM. It was a small round thing in the morning dew, it bred larva, and would melt to mush if not dried.

Fly's eggs cause larvae/worms in mushrooms. Daniel 5:3-5 with Exodus 16:32 and Hebrews 9:4 indicates that the mushroom was a DRUG. Those who drank from the cup containing MANNA had visions within the hour. Psilocybin takes 30-40 minutes to induce visions.

Hebrews 9:4 makes it clear that MANNA was the most holy thing to Israelites, kept in A POT OF GOLD in the ARK OF THE COVENANT, in the MOST HOLY OF HOLYS. Psalm 78:24-25 calls MANNA FOOD OF ANGELS, just as MAYAN/INCA PRIESTS from Meso-America called it TEONANACATL FOOD OF THE GODS. Coca and Tobacco Leaves found in Pharaohs tombs suggest it was ancestors of Mayan/Inca Priests who brought MUSHROOMS to Egypt.

MANNA is an Egyptian word, not Hebrew or Aramaic, meaning: The BREAD OF GOD. This is what Moses called it in Exodus 16:15. BREAD OF GOD equals: FOOD OF GOD, equals: TEONANACATL.

John 2:6-9 indicates that Jesus made water into wine by boiling mushrooms (Mushroom-Tea), the waterpots were made of stone, not clay, (stone pots were used for cooking, clay pots used for storing water)...

These pots already contained 2-3 firkins of a substance before the pots were filled with water. A "Firkin" is an Old-English measurement meaning a fourth part. Half to three-quarters of fresh mushrooms with water makes a potent tea. Tea is the safest way to consume field mushrooms, killing dangerous bacteria like E. Coli.

In the Atharva Veda, the Hindus called this Tea SOMA. Greeks called mushroom jelly AMBROSIA.

    • very interesting. some climate changes would have happened more rapidly than over thousands of years too. i remember hearing another story about ancient mushroom cults, that the mushrooms were so powerful, they would sometimes need to take another drug in combination, just to help them cope.

    • Storing mushrooms in honey was definitely a method used among these cults. There's also a theory that due to climate change and migration, mushroom use was in decline with each passing century (we're talking thousands of years). There would be fewer and fewer mushrooms stored in the honey, giving way to the potential of mead (fermented honey) becoming the inebriation source of choice. Can you imagine the kind of cultural shift that would cause? Going from a psychedelic cult to an alcohol based cult? This would change the value system entirely, and might also help to explain the shift from a matriarchal, female goddess worshiping religion to a male dominating society.

    • I've read that some of the above mentioned ancient mushroom cults used to store mushrooms in honey. Which might account for the honey taste. Sounds like a good recipe anyway.

    • - Well i don t know about your interpretation, but in my language (albanian) there is a fruit called "Manna" which is berry like, is yellow and grows on large trees, and has sweet taste.
      - We actually have those kind of trees in gardens in our town..
      - Maybe that s why it says "tasted like honey" - because it was sweet.
      - In our language in fact the word "manna" is also used in a name for blackberry - Mannaferra -
      ferra tranlated "thorny".

It might be that the word in our language has same origin.
Hope i ve been of any help with this.

    • reiterate that one should read
terence mckennas food of the gods or listen to his rap about it on youtube. Also try Jonathan Ott.

Also fungi as been recently shown to clean up highly toxic superfund sites in a very efficient manner.

Also Francis crick experimented with LSD as did many prominent scientists of his time, and in his own memoirs claims that it was under the influence of LSD that he came across the double helix structure that prove very important in his nobel prize "discovery" of DNA.

Finally the claim that new world brought the cocoa leaf and mushroom to egypt has been written about my many people. It basicly boils down to the idea of ancient cultural diffusionism. My personal favorite author on the subject is David Childress Hatcher.

      Great post.

    • Mushrooms are responsible for more than most can even begin to imagine. Their roots grow beneath our feet, providing nutrients to plants and trees, allowing organic material to decompose and recycle into healthy soil, literally supporting and holding the earth's eco-systems together. As for the religious context, there is ample evidence to suggest that mushrooms were catalysts for the evolution of human consciousness. It's also been suggested that all religions are basically echoes of ancient mushroom cults. There's a lot of good reading material out there for those who are interested. For a Christian perspective, John Allegro's "The Sacred Mushroom and The Cross" is a good read. For more of an esoteric general historical view, Terrence McKenna's "Food of the Gods" is a fantastic read.

I don't know about everyone else, but I remember seeing mushrooms pop up here and there as a child. Even then when I knew close to nothing about them, I was aware of the fact that there was something deeply mysterious and important about them.

    • so this sounds like a bunch of hippies got together and had themselves a woodstock and created a storybook called the bible with a bunch of made up stories with heroes and legends...that sounds like the bible is a fake

    • Say this is true... ok. The mushrooms could be any kind of mushroom that existed THOUSANDS of years ago.

I personally hope all living things are that resilient...

    • only certain people who have actually taken mushrooms (preferably on a full moon from a tea after 10 days of detox) can fully know the significance and truth, of this article.

Everyone else, of course you're welcome to comment, but it's like a man discussing the pain of childbirth, (sorry to women for the analogy but it was the first one to come to mind) you can witness it and observe it, but you can't talk about it from first hand experience...

Then why in god's name did you submit this. It's a forum where people post their opinions.

If you only wanted to hear from "people who have actually taken mushrooms (preferably on a full moon from a tea after 10 days of detox" you've posted on the wrong site.

    • there are tons of examples from ancient times where followers are given hallucinogens or some other mind altering drug so they can experience spirituality. the romans had machines and gismos that made noises like thunder to make them think that god was present and furious with their actions. just imagine billy mays and his oxyclean back a thousand years ago... he would have been a god if not at least a high priest/leader.
