The Fox Broadcasting Company took the decision to stop picking up any more episodes of the series, thus making room for “The Cleveland Show” and “Sit Down, Shut Up,” two animated comedies that will definitely have a broad audience.
Created by Mike Judge and Greg Daniels, “King of the Hill," which focuses on a suburban crazy Methodist family, has been on the verge of cancellation in the past but only now the network will actually cancel the show.
The 250-episode mark will be reached in May and the last episodes of the series, now in its 13th year, are likely to be shown in the summer of 2009. Ratings for the animated comedy have been quite flat during this season.
One of the two new-entries at Fox, “The Cleveland Show,” is the follow-up of the popular animated American television sitcom “Family Guy.” Created by Seth MacFarlane, the series centers around the character of Cleveland Brown and his family.
“Sit Down, Shut Up” is written and executive-produced by Mitchell Hurwitz (the creator of the sitcom “Arrested Development”) and executive-produced by Eric and Kim Tannenbaum (spouses and business partners), and Bill Oakley and Josh Weinstein (known for the animated series Mission Hill, The Simpsons and Futurama). Both series (“Sit Down, Shut Up” and “The Cleveland Show”) are due to start being broadcasted in early 2009.

It really wasn't that funny.
It could be really witty at moments but, for the most part it was pretty lame.

king of the hill is great. the characters are hilarious. i liked what hank hill stood for. however, i think the canceling will work out for the best. it won't go on and on like the simpsons.

I agree it's had it's run and sometimes was hit or miss but I still liked it.
I didn't realize so many people disliked it.

fox is utterly devoid of programming sense. they give good shows little to no chance to develop a solid following and then axe them (arrested development, futurama, keen eddie), while leaving mediocre shows on the schedule much longer than they deserve (king of the hill)

American Dad is good, but do we really need 3 Seth McFarlane comedies?
This is a shame that they're only cancelling it to make way for something else that won't be nearly as good and will just end up getting cancelled.
This was always a clever show. Hank knows best. - 3 years ago

That is true, three series are a far fetch, especially with the current season of American Dad! I wish Futurama was never canceled... :(

It's fun that this show was inspired by the city I live in, Garland.
Even though their depiction of my city is 20 years old.

Who else hear thinks that canceling King of the Hill for the Cleveland Show is actually a bad idea? Sit Down and Shut Up sounds like it will be good, however.

I think President Bush is to blame for this. The unique appeal of listening to blunt, homey, dull, witless xenophobic Texans gets lost when you hear it every night on the evening news.

Paddlenround:
Paddlenround - It has nothing to do with George Bush. The Texans on this show are not xenophobic, have you even seen the show? Just because Hank is a conservative character from Texas doesn't mean that he's some ignorant redneck yokel. I find myself agreeing with Hank quite often. He makes alot more sense then you do with your generalizing assumptions about people who aren't like you.

Paddlenround:
You're right cp9k, that was just completely irrelevant. As a native Texan I find ignorant comments like that offensive. George Bush and Mike Judge, I mean come on, talk about trying insert a political agenda at any possible Texas reference. I think that it is off topic and King of the Hill definitely gave a good run, it was no Beavis and Butthead but it was a cool show. Thanks Mike Judge and hopefully he'll create something more like Beavis and Butthead in the future.

plus. there is a king of the hill episode where hank hill shakes george w. bush's hand at a rally and is unimpressed because he has a wimpy handshake.
