It's an interview packed with gems.
Paxman: "Do you believe in political parties?"
Dizzee: "Yeah they exist, I believe in them”

If hip hop was so influential then Cynthia McKinney & Clemente would have won.
Rosa is an active part of the hip hop community.
Obama mite embrace it but I think Clemente has contributed so much more to the movement.I would like to hear what KRS-One has to say on this matter, someone please post that!

What an ignorant statement! Obama won because of hip hop? How degrading to humanity in general, and specifically, the American people!
First of all, cleary 90% of African Americans vote Democratic no matter who is running, and only 95% of them voted for Obama this time around.
Why did he get elected? The extra 5% was neglibable. It was the young people, the old people, the whites, and the ex-Republicans that did it.
How insulting to all of us to credit hip hop and this fool! Dumb post!

Yeah, I think he was surprised that the BBC which usually ignores black culture, unless there reporting crime, wanted his input, I thought he did really well. He was being vaguely sarky, as was Paxman

When Dizzee released his album Maths + English, he spoke to Current's Daily Fix show about it. What a nice young man.

I like the things Rascal said. He seems very confident with his answers. So whatever to me.

He comes across as foolish, but what were they expecting?
I understand Paxman’s style, saying “Mr Rascal” (and it was funny) but why not address him as Mr Mills, his real name.
I think he was quite nervous and watching it back will cringe.

Really, I watched this and personally, though white, I found Paxman to be patronising and thought Dizzy acquitted himself pretty well.
However of all the possible black spokespeople Newsnight could have used in this piece, was Dizzy really the right choice, or was this more typical BBC institutional racism?
The BBC does produce some fairly good political commentary, but it is only when you compare it with others you can find it is very "middle england, white, archers listening" orientated.
I think they could have done so much better.
But fair play to Dizzy, he wasn't fazed by Paxman, and I thought he was kinda cool and breezy, very optimistic about possibly having a Black or Asian pm one day, which I doubt would ever happen, that would be like having a Black or Asian director general of the BBC? imagine!!!
