    • lol! I enjoyed the video. Even today in 2011, alot of this is still true. I had a medically needed surgery here last year in baja with an excellent surgeon and most impressive hospital stay & service. More and more americans are opting for Mexico not only for medical services but also for a change of lifestyle pace and relocating. I am among thousands living in Ensenada alone and loving it!

    • haha i love this POD, it is true, last summer my friends and i went down to Tj to get dental and medication and even paying for the flight to get to San Diego, we spent only half what we could've spent here in the US.

by the way, Mexico is lovely... the food... superb!, don't listen to the government!

      Adios!

    • Last August I had 2 impacted wisdom teeth. After waiting a week in excruciating pain my regular dentist said I had to wait 2 more weeks for permission from my health insurance to see a specialist. I couldn't wait that long so I went to see my cousin who became an orthodontic surgeon. 15 minutes later, they're out and for three easy payments of $29.99. Practically a steal considering I lost my job and health insurance 2 days later.

BTW, for the best chicken in town, go to Rey Del Pollo, Calle Salvador Diaz Mirón between Calle C and Calle B downtown. I eat there every chance I get.

    • When I studied in Merida, I got the flu [in July, which really sucks in the Yucatan]- and I saw the Doctor, got checked out and got my medicine all within an hour of calling the doctor to see if he was available. And for less than $30 US.

It can be a bit pricer in Mexico City though, for food, etc. But not by much, and I reallllly love it there.

I think I'm in love, by the way.

    • BooksBrown, i loved this pod man. Your personality really shines through, down to earth, non conformist presenting style. Just being you.

And the shots, were ALL great man, and the music was deep too, for five minutes and 28 seconds, you took me to Mexico man.

      Thankyou!!

    • This is awesome, but I can't help but think that maybe Mexicans should build some type of electric fence at the border to keep Americans from coming over and stealing their quality/cheap goods and services.

    • i resist the temptation to caricature mexico as a lawless, perverted, criminal and deadly land. you might have a point if americans are being yanked out of dental offices willy-nilly, but i dont think that is happening.

in fact, in tourist towns like TJ, the political and business communities/interests intervene with perhaps unsavory tactics in an effort to keep crime rates low. Money is the major issue. Sadly, when more money is made by trafficking drugs rather than dental services, you get towns that teeter on the violent...but seldom does the violence spread to easy going Americans in search of a bargain.

    • try this in juarez and there's a good chance you ll end up dead. sure, all that may be true for tj, but where i live, juarez is no longer in option. the violence is so common and so sever that its not worth the trouble to go there.
everyday in the news i see be-headings, shootings, killings, rapes, kidnappings, mexico is in bad shape over here.
the el paso/juarez area has become so dangerous. shots from the drug pushers zing across the border at our border agents. its an everyday thing here.
and with the border fence goin up more each day, the filter that is the border only become more clogged...
so yeah, you may save some money in mexico, but know that you put your life in serious danger if its juarez mexico you visit. i live it everyday, i see the ugliness that this section of mexico has become.
      DONT GO TO JAUREZ!!!!!!!!!!!

    • A trip south of the border puts money in my wallet every year. I can get the full party in TJ for the cost of 4 beers over here. I can get my chiclettes by the box load. I can eat more tacos in one sitting. I can uthinize a horse and still have money for a bottle of tequila.

Mexico is cheap... that's the tooth!

    • Try Acuna, Chihuaha. I'm in the process of going back and forth to get all four wisdom teeth out. CHEAPER.

      Good story, very true.
      American dentists are too expensive!
