Student auctions off virginity for offers of more than £2.5 million

Image
abbym0308
A 22-year-old Women's Studies student is getting offers for more than £2.5 million for her virginity. She is auctioning it off as a way to pay for her master's degree in Family and Marriage therapy. Her sister allegedly paid for her master's degree by working as a prostitute for three weeks. She says selling her virginity is not demeaning herself in any way. Do you agree?

    • Virgins are no use for sex.
I could go on though the last response was rejected.

I used to take psych. students home when they did not feel like working. The women I was living with they id not like them.

    • I knew psychiatry Students who where Prostitutes, when they did not feel like working, they liked to talk to me. At times I took them home, the Strippers & Hookers I ived(Up to 30, yes all but 1, she had a disease). They did not like them.

Virgins I rember 3 they are TERRIBLE to have Sex with, (Like Corpses) Therefore I do not see the point, takes about a Week before they start to be any good.

The Woman in question may well be a Virgin, LOL. She is not atractive, or intelegent/Healthy looking.

"Virgin tight" WHAT? The Tightest I had was a 28 Year old Hooker, nearly Broke my Schlong, hen she called me a wimp.

If she was a Virgin, she is clean so he need not use a Rubber, I never do. Does he get just 1 Round, or is it 24/7, for all at cash he would own her would he not?

They have strict rules about safe sex and bouncers at the place where she is doing it.

Nevada has laws about the conduct and public health in the brothels that are run in the state so that is not a concern there as it is in other places

    • If I thought any of the users of current HAD £2.5M then I'd call this free advertising.

I'd like to know how much she actually gets in the end, and what happens after... Perhaps that's just the Big Brother in me though.

I don't know the Cali laws on prostitution, but surely this would be illegal inthe UK?

    • this is sooooooooooooooo kewl!If this sort of thing catches on the market will soon be flooded and the going rate will come waaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaay down!-------BUT IN THE MEANTIME-IDEA;

An "interesting" character; (celeb, author, radio-host, artist---think H.R. Giger or Stephen King or.....uh.....ugh... M Jackson, gets a publishing house contract to cover the final bids cost (in advance) for the" full disclosure product" (whatever it turns out to be). Really- the book, short film, body cast sculpture, whatever, would more than recoup the cost.

      ------------"ALIEN VIRGIN PET CEMETARY SALE!"
      ----I can see it now--------
This is pretty much a onetime opportunity for fanfare and marketing purposes-the novelty and high profits will prove fleeting. The bidding will probably continue however-a pound of flesh is a pound of flesh after all.

    • If a church or other group offered to pay for a young woman to keep her virginity, I wonder how many virgins we would have in this world.

If we paid our young women to wait until they graduated high school, I wonder how many would wait?

Graduate HS a virgin = $25,000 + Free college tuition to state college or vocational school.

Or maybe we would start at $10K and go up based upon if the girl was the daughter of a teenage pregnancy, etc.

      Graduate College a virgin = $50,000 + Free Graduate school tuition/fees.

Or maybe use a sliding scale based on if they are the first female in their family to graduate college, etc.

Just think what an impact this type of STIMULUS package could've had on the world we see today.

Our young people need a "BAIL-OUT" more than the fat cat banks.

    • Bill_Robison:

That would probably work but it seems that virginity is a whole lot more valuable to lose than to keep since I have never heard anyone willing to pay someone millions not to have sex.

Even all the people that are willing to pay all those millions of taxpayer dollars for abstinence only education have never proposed that simple plan that has a lot greater chance of working.

    • It's wrong. A woman's body is a precious and holy temple. Saving herself for her husband is not only a nice thing to do, it is God's Will and Commandment.

Sex is never meaningless in the eyes of God. It is a beautiful gift He has given to us and we should not spoil it or let it tarnish by selling or trading it away like some common commodity.

We could throw out a hundred reasons why it isn't that bad, but it will always be wrong.

I pray some wealthy person or group will step forward and buy her out of this type of contract. They could pay off the debt and have her sign a contract stating she will wait until she is married to have sex. This is a much better offer/deal.

    • I struggle with interesting. But it seems to scream for a comment. First, wasn't this the second part of a joke years ago? You know, 22 yr old virgin. I have nothing to say for her sister. She would have found a cause one way or another, fear not. Selling it sometimes, through history has been the only way for a particular female to get "it". So if one makes it to 22 intact, there better be more than a picture of fruit exchanged before the happy event and the poor guy knaws off his own arms. Good luck with this and my best to your family. May the Gods and Goddess be sitting down.

    • I find these actions by people completely fascinating. Why should this be considered whorish, illegal, or prostitution? I think this is very similar to the pornography industry, which is a legal industry. She just happens to be a better business person than most porn actresses I guess. Maybe she got drunk and watch "Indecent Proposal," and thought this would be a good idea.

Why do people judge other by their moral standards? Everyone feels and lives differently. Why should everyone value virginity in a different way? I remember my high school and how known virgins were openly called prudes and harassed more than those who were promiscuous.

In my opinion, her actions, in terms of virginal value, are not really that different than anyone who dates, and has sex before they love someone. At least she is getting paid. Maybe she will regret this afterwards. Maybe she won't. Maybe she is lying about being a virgin just to take advantage of a niche market.

Ultimately, I'm glad she's giving me something to talk about.

Legally defined, what she is doing is prostitution. It has nothing to do with moral standards, mine or anyone elses', it has to do with the law. In Nevada, it may be legal, but it certainly is not in San Diego.

    • She may not think she's demeaning herself, but she is most definitely breaking the law. Virgin or not, this would still be considered prostitution. She's selling her body. Ironic she's a Womens' Studies major and she's selling her poon to the highest bidder.

I hope this ruins her chances of being a therapist. And besides, what a great motto "Can't afford school? Sell your body!!!!!!!"

      Holy freakin cow...

@Ayahuasca2012...you can call the girl in the story a whore and that's okay, but then you're gonna jump on somebody else's case about personal attacks!!! Huh? Does not compute.

@unimatrix0...yeah...not so nice. Although there seems to be some hostility thrown about here.

@VegaNerDiva...yes...she does look like Soleil Moon Frye but with crappy pores. That was funny!!!

    • VegaNerDiva:

You can consider what I said a personal attack to the woman in the story if you want but she's probably never going to see my comment.

While on the other hand unimatrix0 went right out and attacked VegaNerDiva to her face... it's a tad different.

I suppose in some ways it seems hypocritical... but when you think about it, it really isn't. Don't we as a society call people who sell sex for money whores? While on the other hand don't we condone mocking, insulting or belittling others without cause? I'm just living up to our societal standards...

    • VegaNerDiva:

Interesting response, but wouldn't it be crucial to remember that the internet, especially this site, is accessible by people all over the world. By "our society," are you referring to the US? Are you from a different country? What good does "living up to" societal standards do in a medium where all societies can intertwine?

I find it hard to believe there's a difference between saying something that someone will read versus saying something someone will not? Is it in the idea that one feels safe that mocking will not be heard by the target? Is there a level of fear in it? What is the point of criticizing someone and never having that person know? I guess that is what in "our society" adds to the feelings of so many when they are walking and see that random person laughing and wonder, "is he laughing at me, or someone else?"

But then again, we all have our own views and can decide what codes of conducts and morals to live by. So as one feels it is fine to call someone a whore because she is selling herself for, another actually has a right to be that whore... especially in a place that allows prostitution, meaning that "we as a society" are saying being a whore is acceptable in certain places. So in this sense, whore would not being demeaning... just a job title.

The brothel is the place where she is doing the deal that's what it has to do with it so that the people there don't care about being called whores since that is what they do for a living.

They're advertising the fact that they have a virgin available to drumup more business so it's not a source of shame to them.

First of all get a sense of humor. The coughing was a humorous gesture...

Secondly, I understand that in Nevada there are these special things called Brothels in which many women who sell sex for money tend to work. I live on the California/Nevada border and frequently make trips to Reno and Carson and you pretty much cant miss all the signs for the Brothels...

I never said that anyone was or should be ashamed of being a whore... I just said she was one. Hell I used to know a lot of people who were proud of being whores.

    • OK...this is the most stupid thing I've ever heard. There are SOOOO many cases of it now since that Russian chick did it a few years back.

I don't understand how you could sell something that personal, i have trouble selling my teddy bear that my ex gave me!

But is it degrading or is it empowering? Degrading because she is selling her virginity to some loser guy for money...like selling your body. empowering because she gets to continue her studies...IN WOMEN STUDIES!!!...and in a way exploits the loser that bought it

ps...I could easily claim that I was a virgin and sell it for 2.5 Million euros....how could neone verify if someone was an actual virgin!?!?!?!? Hymen can break in various ways, not just through intercourse

    • It is following an ancient Chinese tradition, they used that same idea in Memoirs of a Geisha. Funny how that tradition can still hold so much meaning for some people

I do agree with her statement "It's shocking that men will pay so much for someone's virginity, which isn't even prized so highly anymore."

But I guess it is a case of supply and demand since virginity is fairly rare in supply so the demand is still high.

After all as they say "Virginity is as fragile as a soap bubble, it only takes one prick and it's gone"

      how is it ironic?

feminists don't agree on all things, and prostitution is one of them. she's taking control of the situation herself. there's no pimp intervening. and in exercising her autonomy and making the decision to disregard the taboo associated with prostitution, she's going to benefit tremendously.
