i don't personally believe in souls, but theologically speaking, there's ample biblical evidence to suggest that animals have souls. i'm at work so i don't have time to provide evidence right now, but i know much of the evidence is lost in biblical translation. in the oldest editions, animals have the same living souls as humans. additionally, in the garden of eden, all animals live in harmony. it isn't until after the fall that they're exploited for their flesh and utility.

For my own part, I don't believe in any particular religion, but I believe that each and every one based on Love & Peace, holds at least one good idea to believe in. Bhuddists and Quakers are the most enlightened of all the religious belief systems I've seen because they keep it very simple to prevent errors in thinking like the idiocy put on the sign discussed above. Both hold that God's power of creation is so infinite that it can't help but rub off on humans and other creatures like dogs, cats and all mamals, birds etc..That is, that since God(MIND)
exists in everything sentient, any creature with
a Mind can create their own Heaven. Websters dictionary defines heaven as a sheltered sanctuary where one can feel at home, in so many words. Thus, it stands to reason that since anyone or anything that can love and think has a soul. (Indeed, Bhuddists believe that human souls are reincarnated into animal forms as well as new human bodies.) And since love is a state of mind too, once the mortal body passes away, a human and their beloved pets will be reunited in Heaven, because their Minds, and their Love are both immortal creations of God itself. I realize that it must boggle any human's mind to think that ultimately we create our own reality, but my mentor Albert Einstein postulated that every time a human makes a choice ,like taking a fork in the road, he creates an alternate parallel universe. Ie. a new reality. If that's so, doesn't that notion imply that we create our own reality ? I think highroller hit the nail on the head when he commented that dogs are better than most humans, so they will precede us in Heaven. Dogs, like kids, seem to go together because they are ingenuous. If the good die young, they must certainly get to heaven before all of us adult humans. We need more time. because we have a lot more to learn what they already know. A man named Dostoyevski once wrote: "Hell is the state of mind that consumes those empty souls who absolutely lack the capacity to love" Thank God we all live in a relative universe where we still have time to learn. That part is addressed to foolish people with closed minds whose pride likes to exclude and Discriminate.Though the Sun shines for everyone and everything, they may never see the light. Must be pretty cold there in that kind of shade. - 3 years ago

Do good in this life and if there is a Heaven after all then just consider it a bonus. And of course we want our dogs with us........they are better than most humans, so they will be there before us.

People, and dogs, and cats, and cows, and monkeys, and elephants, are all animals. We all die, our flesh rots and returns to the earth.
There is no heaven or hell; there is no god; there is no immortal soul. These things are wishful fantasies for those who lack the intellectual or existential fortitude to face the glaringly obvious truth.
The whole debate is a sad reflection on the religious ignorance and superstition that pervades our culture. All good people of sound mind should stand up and say "no" to ignorance and superstition.
Be brave; be strong; be an atheist!

There was an extremely long time that all christians and jews believed animals do not have a soul. They believed god had simply programmed their bodies to perform specific actions and that it wasn't out of their own will.
I guess I don't even know if humans have a "soul", really.

Whoever knows what is and is not in heaven is not here, and the people that are saying things about the subject have yet to go to heaven, so I am sure they dont know cause how the hell could they, right......its always easy to shout out the answer to a question that noone is able to prove or disprove.....ignorance is a true characteristic of those that hold themselves out to be realigiously knowledgeable but only are capable of bullshit....
